You can make your own leaf springs out of sheet metal or plastic card. I've tried it on a Monogram Shelby Mustang and on the Revell thunderbolt with great succes. It's not that much work and looks nice when it's done and very cost efficent.

Machined Aluminum Specialties makes real metal leaf springs, you can put as much arch in them as you want when you build them. They advertise in Scale Auto.

Some of the older monster truck kits had mongo leaf springs; heavy arches and stacks of springs
