Hi all here is an update on yet another kit I seem to be unable to do a decent job of.

the decal is too big its supposed to fit inside the door and its supposed to say The Monkees not just Monkees, oh and its supposed to be yellow not gold.

none of the engine parts fit correctly there is no radiator or hoses for the engine.

if I cant build a decent model soon I think I will give up altogether.

KP, don't give up yet.  That kit was kinda crappy when it first came out 47 years ago.  I have fooled around with originals, a few past re-issues as the Fonz Rod and looked at this latest issue.  The fit has never been great.  There are kits out there that are much more builder-friendly and will give you a very nice finished product.  Just stay with it.

Nothing ever fits……..and when it does, its the wrong scale.

thought I had got over the engine problems but as you can see the chassis is where it should be but the engine must be at least 10 mm out I have to fit the blower on there, dont know how to get round this one whether to hack the chassis about or try and move the engine forward some how.

I had forgotten about the engine location on this kit.  I dug out my half built Fonz rod and sure enough, the engine is way back.  The blower and everything else mounts to the chrome piece that mounts from the top on the hood opening.  Nothing lines up but when built you can't really see the engine anyway.  I think I was going to just leave the engine out on mine as it was just a shelf model anyway.  I think the guys that designed this tool in the 60's did so in about 20 min.  with what was available at MPC.  Keep glooin and you will get there.

Didn't Revell also have a Monkeemobile kit?

Jim, Revell never did a Monkeemobile.  There was a company from Japan,  the name I can't recall, that did one but I have only seen the box and not the kit so I can't comment on it.  MPC was the only US model maker that I ever knew did one.  MPC also released it in the late 70's as the Fonz Dream Rod and later as the Monkeemobile Blueprinter Special and then once again in the AMT box.  Its the same old poorly done crappy tool they gave us 47 years ago.  It was a cool kit to have in its day and really cool if you were 12 years old!
