Glad to help.  Part of getting the Tamiya Accent Panel Line to work properly is allowing it to flow on its own into the lines.  Typically I only feed it into a couple spots.  So there are only a few places to clean up on the whole car.

(I've seen others do tutorials and treat it like a wash, but then there's a lot to clean up.)

This car was not clear coated, it is just TS-34 lacquer.

Using lacquer thinner to clean up will ruin the paint if it is lacquer, enamel, acrylic, or urethane.

I prefer to use a wooden toothpick dipped into mineral spirits to lightly rub off any errant panel line color.  But that is after I've tried lightly polishing it off with a clean cloth and a tiny dab of mild polish.  Usually the latter does the trick on 90% of the spots.

Hey quick question if you don't mind? After you applied the Tamiya Accent Panel Line, what did you use to clean up the excess? I've seen you can use a Q-Tip lightly soaked in turpentine or lacquer thinner, but on some test pieces of mine it stripped the clear coat right off as well. Thanks!

Ready to mount the body to the chassis.  I had to tape the hood closed to keep it from getting damaged from flopping around.
The glass fits very well in this kit, especially the windshield and back light.

Thanks guys!  Yes, it is a nice kit.  The machined parts and PE really add to the detail level.

I printed some plates to work with the PE parts that come in the kit.

I agree, it's coming along really well. The details in the under carriage are fantastic.

I was just gonna say that looks like a well detailed kit.

I started painting the window trim satin black, but decided a dead flat sheen better provided the high contrast look I wanted.  The panel lines were done with Tamiya Accent.

I planned to use both the front spoiler and the oil cooler, but upon reading the instructions I saw they were either one or the other.  Since I'm keeping this one out-of-the-box I bent up the PE oil cooler bracket to move the cooler up and forward.  Still OOB and I get to do it the way I had envisioned.

So much for painting the body early and letting it dry for a while… I was happy with both the color and the finish of the Bright (Cheez Whiz) Orange, but after working on the tug I decided I liked the Camel Yellow even more for it.  It also fits the inspiration for this project better, the BRE BrockBuster 510.

I'm good with this repair.  I had to sand just a little bit after cementing the pin in.  Then I brush repainted the center section.

Note to self.  Install the delicate tie rod after installing the body for the final time.  I drilled the ends of the part and will fix with a steel pin.

Very nice job on the engine, looks good. Do you paint engines as you go, or when done? Or another way? I'm quite new to modeling and I'm having trouble getting my engines to look nice. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Depends on the engine and the kit.  Generally you want to assemble the pieces that make up the subassemblies that will be the same color and paint them after addressing the seams and such.  But smaller parts that are different colors are usually better off being painted separately then attached.

Thanks Steve.

The shoulder harnesses are shown in the instructions to be attached to the bottom of the front seats, but I decided to attach them more like I did on my real car and anchor them by the back seat.
Test fitting the body…

The dash is done too.  I used the same painting technique for the wood grain as I did on the console.

Flocking/carpet didn't seem to fit the theme so the floor of the interior was sprayed with textured dark gray to simulate a rubberized coating.
The rest of the parts were painted as called out in the instructions, sort of…  I swapped Medium Gray for the Black inserts.  The silver and gray are brush painted.

I didn't like the connection of the header to the exhaust.  So I "welded" them together.

Looks sharp Mark.  What color did you paint the rear sway bar?

Thanks,

John
