Beautiful work Eugene!  These "classic" Land Rovers have a special place in my heart ever since the night that I was leaving a night class at college and saw a guy cranking on an old Land Rover, in the front, like the old Model T's to get it started.  I like my vehicles to adhere to the KISS principle.  I saw that the two door version of this vehicle is being released this quarter

BY WHO .  .  . you mean the 88" wheel base model?  I've only been waiting 20 years for that !!!

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"

Nice job Eugene.  I assume that's the Revell kit - I did that a couple years ago and it's a really great Kit.

AK is comming out with a series of 88s in 1/35th scale

The Revell website shows it is another Series III 109, like the ESCI/ERTL curbside three door kit from several years ago.  In the pics the engine is a turbo diesel, and the one pic shows the Hi/Low range lever and the 4WD levers on the wrong side.  They don't swap to the left side on the LHD vehicles.

I too hope they release the old 88 kit.  I still have one in the stash, and an older built kit in pieces.  They are crazy in price when you find one.  We have two full size 109s, a SIIA three door, and a SIII soft top / pickup.

It's Revell of Germany and the box too says commercial Land Rover Series III LWB.  I hope that helps.

Wow, you've been busy!!  Nice job, although the engine compartment is entirely too clean.  Is it out of oil?  Big Smile

Looking very good Eugene. I must try and modify one, as our eldest son had a lightweight SWB parachuted Lanny.

One of the problems with this kit is the roof does not have the three strengthening ribs on the top surface.  The kit is designed to use the 'sunsheet', the thin second layer over the standard top, and with the sunsheet in place only the very front and rear of the three ribs could be seen.  Without the sunsheet, the ribs are very noticable.  The sunsheet is mounted about one inch above the standard roof, and helps keep the direct sun off the top.  The Series Rover 'Tropical Top' has the sunsheet, four vents that open into the space between the sunsheet and top, and the 'Alpine Windows' on the side of the top.  The sunsheet also has four oval bumps directly over the vents, for clearance when the vent is open.

The Tropical Top is usually painted an light tan called Limestone, or sometimes white, to help reflect the sun.
