If you are doing a drag racing version, put on what you want. There were no real factory drag cars and several idependant teams ran drag cars in a variety of configurations. I remember someone replying to my other post saying that the 302 kit was patterned after the 429. Maybe this is the scoope that goes of the 429. There is a lot I don't know about Mustangs when it gets into the details. The instructions in the kit show a racing and stock engine, and this big scoope for the racing version. I figured I would put the scoope on, because I have never seen a 1970 without the shaker, but now I don't think I like the way it looks. I already have the racing engine in it, and I don't want to try taking it apart to do the regular 302, so I was thinking of trying to make a scoope that looks more like the shaker. I guess if I had a good pic of the shaker I could see what I need to do.

If you are talking about the Trans-Am racing version of the Boss302 from 69 or 70, there was NO scoop! The only "scoop" available on the Boss 302 was the 1970 "Shaker" hood scoop option and this was not used on the race cars as they were feed from a plenum that drew air at the base of the windshield, a high pressure area on most street cars. The Boss 429 DID have a big fixed hood scoop that was functional but the 429 only raced as a drag car.

FITTER, time to post some more Boss 302 pictures......Lance FITTER has a 70 Grabber Blue Boss as did I but he still has his in the garage while mine is sold. If you need pictures of the Trans-Am Bosses I can scan in so and post 'em.

I am building a Monogram Boss 302 kit, and deceided to build the racing version. I have it almost completed, but I don't know if I like the big racing scoope. I am looking for some opinions. Could I cut back the scoope and try to reshape it to look closer to the regular shaker, or would this just end up looking "bad". Or should I keep it like it is and deal with it? Anybody have any pics of this acutal car in the racing configuration, or maybe just some info on it?
