U-96 - great picture and a good link - thanks for that. Did anyone ever make a kit of this car?
Looks from the rear like a 250GTO/64. If I'm correct Ferrari bent the rules (again) with the homologation for the 250GTO and instead of making 100 cars as required, produced 39 and counted the 250SWB, from 1959-1962, into the equation. In fact they were not cheating because the rules stated that the chassis and engine, and not the body, were what constituted the car, and the modifications made were only small. 32 250GTO's were made so only 7 of the notch back cars were produced making this one a rare beast indeed. You've got to hand it to old Enzo - he knew how to play the game!
(Come to think of it - I have a spare 250GTO body and from that picture it doesn't look too difficult to convert) - It gets better all the time!!

This message comes at exactly the right time.

I am just getting back into modeling, and I am taking the same opportunity to transition from my old Paasche H airbrush to a Badger 360.

And I'm revisiting my old unbuilt kits looking for likely victims (after I practice airbrushing again for a while), and found two early 90's Testors kits: a 1970 Ferrari 512 S kit, and a 1971 Porsche 917 kit.

Trouble is, having made the transition to an internal airbrush, I don't know what kind of paint to buy anymore. I used to use enamels with my Paasche H; from what I've read acrylics might be easier to deal with in the Badger.

So, what kind of acrylics do you all like for auto colors? Specifically, what brands/colors do you think mostly closely approximate Ferrari Red?

blakbuzzrd, you might have more luck with your paint question if you post as a separate thread in this forum. Me, I don't know, I've only made one car model and that was with enamels Big Smile [:D]

consider using Tamiya's TS line of spray paints for you body work. I use them on all the F1 cars I build and they are fantastic.

I still use my airbursh for the rest of the car. I use Testors Enamel and Tamiya paints. I've found the Acryl and just about any Acrylic paint difficult to thin properly and the paint tends to stick inside the brush and clog it in the middle of a paint session. Maybe I've just been using the enamel's for so long that I'm used to them and don't want to change (you know, old dog, new tricks).
