Seat Belts

I use wine bottle foil for the belt and thin wire for the buckles. The foil is very easy to work with and is easily molded to any shape. I save old electrical extensions, computer wiring etc and use this for all sorts of details.

Try using pin stripping masking tape or lay a piece of masking tape out on a clean piece of glass, cut the tape into strips, and fold it back on itself. Use thin wire to create the buckles and when folding back on itself insert the buckle- easy breezy. Play with it and you will find your own way. Good luck.

Thanks guys!  I'll play around with the ideas tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

Try doing what these guys do. They use masking tape. I've done it with thin strips of fake suede and wire from inside of twisty ties. Great results and CHEAP!!

1:48 is a borderline scale for the buckles and fittings.  1:32 almost demands wire or metal.  1:72 works okay if you carefully paint those areas silver or flat aluminum, either with a tiny brush or toothpick tip. I have done 1:48 masking tape belts both ways- it works either way.

Masking tape, eh? Gonna try that on my next build. Been using bare metal foil for 1/72 seatbelts for some time now.
