Blueprint offer
Posted by fox on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 7:33 PM

Hi guys,   Back in the '70s, I bought a set of blueprints with the intention of building an R/C Destroyer. When I re-married in the late '80s, all the work I had completed on her was lost in my move to my new home. I do not have the time or the desire to start this project over again. As a result, I am offering these blueprints FREE to a serious builder. I'll even pay the shipping costs.

DETAILS

Sea Gull Plans of USS Farragut 348 as she was in 1934 by Wm. L. Crothers & Thos. Hornsby dated 20 Nov. 1946.  Scale = 1/8" = 1'0".  Plan size would come out to about a 43" long model. Plans contain:- Half Breadths, Body Plan, Outboard Profile, Deck Plans & Details, General Notes and Paint Schedule.

I only have one concession I would like the recipient to make. If you decide not to use them, give them to someone who will.

To get in touch, you can e-mail or pm me.  Hope I can find a good home for these plans.

P.S. Photos of WIP or finished work would be appreciated (if I'm still around by then).Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Had I the money and the time, I would most certainly take you up on this offer!

My reason for posting, though, is to ask you where you found the blueprints to begin with. I have been looking for years for a set of LCVP blueprints.

My Uncle was a Higgins boat driver at Anzio, and have wanted to honor his memory with a 1/10 scale LCVP.

She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.

Now that's a kind offer fox!Thumbs Up [tup]

But I'd never have the time to build something like that and long story short those blueprints would end up sittin' in my stash somewhere.

Hi 666Irish.  I originally got the plans from an outfit called Sea Gull Plans. I just Googled them and found nothing for themBoohoo [BH] but all references to them led to The Washington Ship Model Society. They have all kinds of plans and there might be one under the name or number of your uncle's boat. I also Googled Higgins boats. There are lots of references there with pics and plans. In fact, the main google page I came to had pics and drawings for one. I enlarged the pic of the drawing and it looked pretty good. I'm sure if you checked out some of the references on that google site you'd find just what you are looking for. Idea--google Higgins boats at Anzio and see what happens. Good luck with your search. Hope I have been of some help. Let me know how you make out.

I'd like to have them.. But then only as a collector. If I ever get to build it, I would.. Or I could find someone who wants them..
