Feedback on 1/25 scale crossbow (first attempt)
Posted by Stephen_Social on Sunday, April 14, 2013 3:11 AM

Hi, I'm just looking for some feedback on this rough version of a 1/25 scale crossbow I scratchbuilt for a "zombie apocalypse" scene I'm putting together where a Ford pickup truck has been modified into a zombie-proof vehicle.

The M16, .22, shotgun, and pistol are all from a kit, but I scratchbuilt the crossbow in a few hours.

I'm looking for feedback on how it looks (remembering it needs some detailing and finishing still) next to the rest of the weapons? (I think the guns are actually a little under-scale? I built the crossbow off actual crossbow dimensions I took from my brothers crossbow.)

I can answer as a modeler and a bowyer . As a modeler looks good. As a bowyer the tiller is wrong. If it was a real bow the prod could break at the 45 degree angle where the prod meets the bow. Think more of a cresant moon kind of bend. The string needs to be tightened. Other wise the recoil would break the bow. But then thats the nitpicky bowyer in me ;)

Thanks for the feedback brassbow, I agree 100% about the need for tightening. I built this thing in one night between 2am-4am while fighting insomnia and while it looked great back then, it needs some work now that I'm rested and thinking clearly.
