GOD!! I wish I had seen this thread sooner. Do not use polyester! This is too brittle, and will crack, and break off. This was only introduced for the automotive industry as a cheaper alternative to making actual fabric. It was later adapted to paint substrates, and clothing, curtains, etc. It's highly toxic, and flammable. You want to use POLYURETHANE RESIN which isn't meant for surfboards, or any type of layup application as you would use in fiberglass. www.specialtyresin.com will be the most help - they offer clear cast brand resin which you can add a colourant to it so that you can see through it, but with either colour, or clear colour depending how thick you want the translucency to appear. I hope that this will be the answer to your question.
