"G"

      I owned two Corvairs.One of the early 60s four door Flat-top sedans and a 65 Monza. Definitely different handling between the two. The Early sedan WAS twitchy on turns if you had your foot in it!

Don;

 Geez , guy, sorry it took so long for me to reply. Yes,A.B.S requires it's own type of glue. Regular styrene type glue does not work! I found the Glue I bought at Tap Plastics in Concord,Ca. Works fine, but has a vicious smell!

Don;

 Be careful. Some are A.B.S. too!

Isn't ABS a plastic also?  Does it require any special adhesives too, or any other handling than styrene?

I find the model railroad areas in many hobby shops have several types of dummy small nuts and bolts, bolt heads, and nut/bolt shanks.  Some are plastic, some are PE.

Hi " G " ;

    That's the first thing I thought of, tested with ALL the styrene glues I have .Tube, Testors plastic bottle and the well known stuff. Guess what? all worked very well.

1 of my step-father's co-workers that worked underneath him replaced a Volkswagen Beetle engine with a Corvair engine. supposedly the Bug could pop wheelies with that engine.

The poor corvair, you can blame Ralph Nader for that devaluation.

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"

Love it. Try gluing it before you spend too much more time chopping it up.

Green with jealousy.

Interesting about the Corvair. They don't seem to be worth a lot of money- $ 500 to $ 25,000 depending on condition.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Hi There!

    I was at the Market of Fleas the other day. Interesting, it was. Person there had bunches of plastic in bags for sale. A Quarter or more apiece. The Quarter bags were ten pieces. each successive size was double or triple in price.

   The contents? Can you say styrene Octagonal rods 12" long. Definitely not Evergreen or Plastruct. Some were .010 and so on. They were every color of the rainbow. Come to find out his Uncle worked for a company that made Mold heads for extruders .He used to take some of the test product home thinking he would use them someday.

    He(the uncle) passed last year. Left nephew everything in his shop/garage.  This stuff was in there plus, a 65 Corvair Monza Convertible that still runs and looks like new. He says he has at least twenty more boxes of stuff.

 I bought Twenty bucks worth.Geez,I wish I had a working camera. This stuff is awesome after using my Short Line Chopper. I used some of the.010 and some smaller rod chips? Neat nut and bolt appearance under paint.    T.B.
