A Tanker Wheelhouse Detailing

Hey Don!

 Ya really want to wow them? Build your Wheelhouse/Bridge large enough so you can use the little compass from an old Cub Scout knife in the Binnacle. Probably about 1/24 or 1/32 scale!

I've been wanting to do a wheelhouse or bridge for some time.  At the Maritime Museum in Duluth I took pictures of the wheel station, the binacle and Chadwick, and would like to do a large scale bridge or wheelhouse.  Lots of brasswork, and I have a pretty good supply of K&S brass.

 Hey that's 1/87! I also now work in 1/144 and 1/160! There's so much stuff that can be used on Planes, Cars, Armor and Ships in the train section of some hobby shops, Online and Brick and Mortar you wouldn't believe it!

     I do work in 1/96 too. I have quite a few R.C. vessels. The biggest is the H.M.S. Snowberry ! She is an all weather performer too. Oh, I take that back, I have an Aegis Class Fibreglas hull I am piddling with! OOPS!

Looks very like the coffee shop of the old Ohio Motel in Chicago. Except, of course, for the conspicuous lack of tall buildings surrounding on all sides....

If you'll notice there is the radio room and the all important head! I am trying to meld the old fashioned gear with modern touches. That's why the two radar repeaters and the central console with separate engine telegraph!

Very nice work indeed, and it looks as though it could be double the scale.

Hey did I ever tell you that I worked for the guy who bought the Hughes covered barge? He uses it as a floating drydock, which is what it originally was.

   I will try to post more as time goes by. So far it's looking like it's going to be one picture at a time. But there is more. The Hull Pics from White plastic all the way to where I had to stop. There's two with different wheelhouses. I haven't done any more on them since I had my heart thing happen. Getting back to it though.
