30,000 ft, maybe we should start the engine! Boeing Build starts June 15th
Posted by modelcrazy on Saturday, May 16, 2015 12:14 AM

Ok, it’s time to start a pre build thread to introduce, remind and pencil in members for the 2015, 2016 Boeing Build.
This build will start on June 15 2015 to commemorate the first flight of Boeing’s Model 1, Boeing’s first production model, and well run a year till June 15 2016, Model 1’s 100th anniversary.
It will be run by CodyJ and myself, with yours truly as host and CodyJ as co-host.

The rules will be simple.
1. It is open to ANYTHING Boeing, Boeing partners, and Boeing acquired companies, i.e. McDonnell Douglas, Bell etc.
2. As stated above it will last a year + 1 day.
3. Crossovers are allowed.
4. PE, AM, scratch building is allowed.
5. WIP pics area must, also consider posting a different WIP thread to show off you outstanding work to others who aren’t watching the GB.
6. Partially started build are acceptable.
7. Join anytime during the timeframe.
8. Any scale, as many builds as you like.
9. Have fun.

This build is wide open to whatever you can think of Boeing related, Biplanes, Bombers, Fighters, Airliners, Missiles, Space and companies like Ford and BMW are even partnered with Boeing.

Here are some links to get some ideas.

I have a list of some who are/were interested since its conception last August. If you were interested and I forgot you, sorry, I simply didn’t find the post were you expressed interest. There has been quite a bit of reference to this upcoming build over the months in several different threads.
Let me know if you want to/still want to jump in.

Hey Steve, going silent for several months, so, I'll be able to look in on FSM, but, I'm packing up my model building supplies and putting them into storage. I am moving. I am posted to another city, but, only in August, so, I need to vacate my present apartment in 3 weeks (it's complicated, LOL), so, I need to store everything during the interim. I will get right on my Boeing 707 Air Force One as soon as I get settled later in August.

Please add me to the list. I think I'll pick up a 1/144 737-800 and P-8 conversion set. Already built a 787 in a what-if Air Force scheme, might as well put a real Navy scheme next to it. May not start until later this year though, due to school.  Thanks

I'll pencil you in kg4, that ought to be interesting.

Rob,

Don't sweat it brother, we'll be here and ready for you when you get unpacked. We have accepted a contingency offer on our house, so we MAY be moving ourselves here shortly. We just need to see if the buyers can sell their house. We would be staying in the area, but just need to downsize.

Actually, I think I'll skip finding kits and conversions for the P-8 and decided I'll go with a Has 1/72 F/A-18F with a slick set of aftermarket decals I have. This way I can start sooner since I have everything I need.

So am I Rudy. I need to get the updated members list together and come up with a draft of the rules. Or at least copy and past what I've already written.

BTW,

The official GB thread will start on Sunday June 14 at 7:00 PM Pacific time in the Group Build forum. CodyJ will grab page 2 for completed build picture wall.

This build has been in the making for 10 months, so I'm pretty anxious to kick it off.

Count me in.  Most likely would do a 727; however, do we have to decide prior to the start of the build?
