Proper yellow for the Piper PA-18 Super Cub

It's probaby going to be a mix.  The color is yellow off a little to orange.  I get it mixed at a paint store, Cub Yellow of course.

Hmm;

 Although it is indeed " Cub Yellow " that color is very close to the yellow  that is used in and on any international rescue craft . So Coast Guard Yellow is probably right too . T.B.

Just as a matter of interest, the standard factory scheme for the PA-18's were not all over yellow like on the J-3's.

Most would have a two tone with a white or off-white as a base colour.

This colour is matched to the original yellow of the J-3's. It is called Lockhaven Yellow from Stits. Not sure what a model paint for it would be.

I do realize judging colour from a computer screen is difficult.

I thought it was Tamiya lemon yellow.

I had planned to build the RoG Super Cub, but would up donating the kit to the VA home. The color I choose was Testors Spray Enamel #1214 Gloss Yellow. It was the best match I could buy locally and looked pretty darn close. I had intended to spray a base coat then decant it and add a drop or a few of red if the final coat needed to be warmer.

At only 45 my peepers are also starting to fade a bit now.

I am lucky wrt my PA-18 build. I scratchbuilt a full size L-18c I fly and the PA 18 with the extra rear glazig works out well. I had decals made so I can model my plane that is in white/red US ARMY colours.

Hi;

 How would you like a glue that sets tight and remains clear on the surfaces that are clear ? Now , here's my secret . You know the ads on tv for the Ultra Violet set glue ? That's the stuff .You can find it's type at the good old Home Depot and they have the refills too . T.B.   P.S.  Plus it can be sanded like filler !

That sounds like a good idea, its a pitty we dont have such fancy glues here in Africa :-(

 Sorry it took so long , I had to find the paperwork . It's called LAZER-BOND USA. the glue is made in the USA , the Applicator in China .  T.B.       P.S. Hey , Everybody ! My plane looks great .I painted it with some left over Yellow we had at the Museum .Sooo. Mine is Missouri Pacific Yellow !

There are several brands of the stuff.  Do a google search on UV hardening glue. 

I bought some on eBay, hasn't arrived yet.  It's all coming from the far east.
