Hasegawa 767-300... building options?
Posted by MIflyer on Monday, May 3, 2010 1:52 PM

Hi All,

I picked up a 1/200 Hasegawa 767-300 recently, and want to start it soon. I'm clueless about the 767, but I know that I'd like to build a relatively recent plane equipped with winglets. I found some aftermarket ones, but I don't know how common this version of the aircraft really is - am I going to paint myself into a corner here? I'm also unsure whether there are optional engines on the 767, and how to tell them apart.

My kit didn't come with decals, so options for markings are wide open. Any advice on availability of aftermarket goodies or the 767 in general would be greatly appreciated!

American was the launch customer for the 767 winglets and more and more airlines are adding them everyday.  Heres a great research site www.airliners.net .  This 1 is great for researching which engines are on which planes www.planespotters.net/ . www.airline-hobby.com/shop/ is a great source for airliner related models and supplies.

Thanks for the reply! I know that Airline Hobby carries 767 stuff, I'm just trying to figure out what may be applicable to my project.

Maybe I should narrow the scope of my question - can I build a 767-300 ER from the Hasegawa -300 kit? My understanding is that the aircraft are dimensionally identical. Ideally, I'd like to build a current Air New Zealand -300ER with the blended winglets - like this one.

Planspotters.net confirmed that ANZ 767s carry the GE CF6 engine - thanks for that link!

Externally the -300 and -300ER are the same.  The -300ER sacifices capacity for extra fuel, since this is all internal, its possible to make a -300ER from a -300 kit.  Most -300ER have been retrofitted with the blended winglets.
