Windows! The bain or airliners & civil aircraft.

Windows are again the biggest problem on my latest civil aircraft- Encore's Beech D-18.  As typical, the fit is lousy and the windows are very misformed.  They are not flat and have inclusions in them.  I don't know whether the transparent parts on most kits are acrylic or some other plastic, but die casting them seems to be a problem.  Anyone know what this problem is?  Until they get the problem solved I guess I am tending towards decal windows!

Don't know if this can solve the problem (or if i understood the question correcltly)  but recently on an italian forum i see an high skilled modeller that glued the windows in reverse mode (mainly on bombers little windows) , and after glue was dry he sanded window till they reache the fuselage level.

I assume that would take a lot of polishing after sanding, in order to restore transparency.

yes, but is not a big problem, i needed lots of times to sand some clear parts , but when finished just sanding with fine sandpaper and a final coat of gloss clear varnish.

^^ What he said.  I've had to modify clear plastic before, and have had pretty good luck sanding it down, and then smoothing it out with finer and finer grits (even using just those Squadron sanding sticks) until I just start to see a satiny shine.  Then, I dip them in Future, and >Poof!< Pretty glass!

It's amazing how much Future will fix things.  Try it on a couple of parts.
