Having flow on this airline, I think I prefer looking at your well-done model

Here's a shot of one I caught on approach to the local airport. I just posted this because I really like your model and I'm going to put one of these in my stash.

Thanks to all for the great comments and information.  I really appreciate it.  This is the Minicraft Reno Air MD80.

The decals are DrawDecals, which I purchased from Joy Decals:

Don't sweat the flaps. The Mad Dog flaps are more plain flaps than anything else. They mostly just come  down, but they do move out a bit. Yours look to be as close as you can get in scale. You have your flaps/slats in what looks like the landing configuration.

Fly-n-hi is correct about the slats. The wing is sealed/air foiled behind the slats.

Also don't worry about the tail graphics. Alliegiant MD's have a wide variety on the tail sunburst.

Taxing out today in "Vegas I saw a good part of the fleet. Your tail matches well with many I saw.

I took this as one was getting ready to take off.

Over all a very nice job, What kit/scale is it?

Nice!  Yeah, I'd like to know what kit this is too, and ESPECIALLY where you got the markings. Allegiant flies out of our local airport, so this is a project I'd build, for sure.

Thank you for the great information!!  My reference photos all showed the single "Direct" flaps, so I'm not sure what I was thinking or why I thought it had the "Fowler" flaps.  But now I know the terminology.  Also, thanks for the info on the slats, very helpful!  This is a great forum for getting the help you need!!! I greatly appreciate it!

Overall I think it looks really good.

Since you asked about the slats I'll add my 2 cents.  What makes it look odd is that you left the cut out area open.  In reality when the slats are extended the leading edge of the wing still has close to the original camber...which is the curvature of the top of the wing.  The slats are very thin and fit snugly on the leading edge when retracted.

Also, the trailing edge flaps on DC-9 series planes are single piece "Direct" flaps.  It looks like you made them out to be "Fowler" flaps.  I'm not suggesting that it looks bad but it is incorrect.  I do like the fact that you had the guts to cut them out and display them extended, though.

Here's my 1/144 Allegiant Air MD-83.  For the most part, I'm happy with it, but two things seem to 'mock' me every time I look at it.  One are the leading edge slats, and the other is the tail logo (I think the blue color is partly showing through and darkening the lighter coloration of the logo).  Any critiques, suggestions, ideas, etc. on anything (but especially those two trouble areas) would be greatly appreciated.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.
