Wonderful job on that Model Craft Norseman. I have one stalled on the bench. Those struts are a real challenge. I got to looking at your post after digging out on of my 1/72 Norseman builds. This Model Craft kit is an exact scale up of the old 1/72 Matchbox kit. All the same parts-just bigger.
The only source I've had over the years is Squadron mail order. I recently bought another 1/48th scale Norseman from them. I rarely see them in stock at Squadron, last time I visited their site they were in stock so I picked one up. As far as any other Model Craft kits go, I never built any. I don't think I'd want to either. This was a lot of work to get the struts on the pontoons to look realistic.
If I can figure out how to post more than one pic at a time from Image Shack I'd post more pics of this plane and a lot of others I've built. Any help from the guys out there would be appreciated.
VERY nice......my only complaint.....not enough pics!!!
That's a very pretty airplane......thanks for sharing!

Looks great! BTW, what is a good source for Model Craft? I am not thrilled with their kits, but like the subjects they kit. But I don't have a good source, and have no idea what all kits they DO offer.

I started with the 1/48th scale Model Craft kit. Some of the modifications I did include narrowing the front of the pontoons to give them a more realistic appearance. Also, I scratchbuilt the support struts and ladders between the pontoons and the fuselage. The rigging for the steerable pontoon rudders was added. The pontoon rudders were scrathbuilt from beer can aluminum. The interior was highly modified by scratchbuilding the instrument panel and passenger seats. The Noorduyn logo on the rudder was copied and printed on clear decal sheet. This plane took a 2nd place for the 1/48th - 1/32nd scale Civil, Sport and Racing catagory at this years IPMS Nationals in Orlando.
