I am trying to decide if I want to hand paint in the cracks and gaps or if i want to print up some stuff for repair work on the decal film.

The problem I have had with Minicraft decals is the decals refusing to separate from backing, even after as much as ten minutes soaking.  I have had to pull them from the backing at times, causing some breaks.  I have had some release eventually, and those did not break up, but it sure slows down decaling.

Minicraft Decal issues???

So I picked up the Minicraft 1/144 scale Cayman airways kit.  I'm happy with the fit and everything of the kit, it's looking beautiful.  When adding the decals though the port side and the windshield decals broke up pretty bad, I managed to get them mostly in place with very little touchup needed.  The side decals also fit fairly well, the misalignment is so minor it's only noticeable if you are actually looking for it specifically and get real close.

The port side however did not fit, or align.  It's about an 8th of an inch too short, the doors are not aligned and are sized off differently from the opposide side.  It was a pin getting it on too as the decals were so bad they lifted and broke apart on the sheet to the point I had to coat everything in microscale liquid decal film.  Which made it difficult in different ways.

Is this common with minicraft decals?  I'm pretty much stuck with the cayman airways as I already have the whole thing painted.  So I'm going to have to do all the touchup with paint, which annoys me to no end.  The fit and suchis nice enough where I'd buy another one, eventually but if the decals are like this it won't be soon as I don't like the idea on waiting for decals to ship in.  I suppose I could make my own for some of them.

I don't have any experience with airliners, this is my second one, my first one wasn't too good the paint turned out pretty bad.  It's already decaled though so it will be a ceiling hanger for the kids.
