The kit does have recessed panel lines. Like their other 1:144 kits, there is no cockpit detail- not even a cockpit floor nor even the cockpit bulkhead, though there is a transparent windshield. I always at least scratch a floor and the cockpit bulkhead, sometimes even add a couple of seats.

This is what you want.

It looks like they were published by F-dcl with whom I have no experience.

Usually the best two places to look for this kind of esoteric stuff are either Aviation Megastore or Airline Hobby Supplies.

Probably you should use the part number and search eBay from time to time.

As far as I know that's the only DC-4 kit, other than a lousy one in 1/72 by Mach 2. I kitbashed my C-54 from a Heller 1/72 DC-6 but it was a big job. I really like the Minicraft 1/144 stuff- perfectly acceptable if not always real accurate.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Air France DC-4 Help- Kit? and Decals??

Hi Everyone!

I am building a model of the Douglas DC-4 for my grandmother. She was born in france and has traveled back and forth from where we live now, Boston Ma, many times.

After some research I found out that the DC4 was used on the first of July 1946 as its maiden flight from NYC to Paris.  I have found the minicraft kit in 1/144 and would like to know if anyone has built that kit and your opinions on it or other kits that may be better.

Also, help finding the correct decals for the Air France livrey would be great!

Thanks!!

William
