Boeing DC-10 in KLM Livery
Posted by rodc on Sunday, May 31, 2015 4:52 PM

Finally managed to get another kit finished......this one only took 5 monthsBig Smile!

Photos below are of a Boeing DC-10 in the four color KLM livery.  Word of advice.....don't put the wings on your airplane if you have to do a lot of masking for the color schemes.  This is the old Revell DC-10 Skytrain kit with decals from Draw Decal.  Tamiya and Model Master paints were used to finish with a gloss cote to seal.

Hope you like the photos!

Looks great, gives me the itch to get out there and do another airliner.  I did have fun with the Dreamliner.

On the Bench:  Lots of unfinished projects!  Smile

Very nice job on this model. If I'm not mistaken, Douglas built the DC-10, not Boeing.

By the time they got orders and started building it, McDonnell Douglas. And of course now they are also Boeing.

Dad worked 48 for United and they were a Douglas customer. Flew quite a bit on these dudes.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I'm not sure if I rode in a United DC-10, But I've flown in DC-10s and United. Maybe your old man was the driver. I've flown KLM but they weren't DC-10s.

I had some friends that worked at McDonnell Douglas in Palmdale, California back in the early 70s putting these things together. That company was notorious for laying off workers just prior to their retirement.

I haven't seen a DC-10 done up in KLM before, it is a nice combination. Again, well done, RODC!

He was a slipstick jockey, an engineer. They had this godawful color scheme in the 70's: salmon, tangerine and sky blue.

My bad subfixer.  I guess when I posted I was thinking how an unbuilt 747 in my stash would look in the same livery!
