Painting a back in the sun?
Posted by Leddy on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 9:21 AM

I am ready to paint the bare back of a Caucasian woman in the Russian sun in Summer.  I have primed in black and have craft paints in 3 shades of flesh and neutrals to shade.   In addition,  I have a set of Vallejo paints with flesh colors and contrasts.  Can you advise on technique to do base, a couple of darker shades and a couple of highlights.   I would appreciate any advice or suggestions!

thanks, Leddy

I'm no expert but I'd paint it the same way I'd do the rest of the figure. You'd probably want to add a little shadow under the shoulder blades and the small of the back and add some highlights along the spine, the tops of the shoulder blades and the shoulders themselves.
