I was looking at the MB site and noticed they had added a set of zombie figures to their list of in development figures. To be exact the set consists of four un-dead looking figures and a female zombie hunter, holding a hand gun sitting on a motorcycle loaded with supplies. The two wheeler looks a bit old but there are a number of more modern 1/35th scale Tamiya and DML dirt bikes that could be substituted.
Lol! Oh lord... Ya gotta give MB credit if they actually make this happen.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

I saw a pic of these on another site and am not impressed. I don't get the whole Zombie craze. To me the whole idea is stupid. I personally hope they use their time and money for main stream figures. To each their own though.

Gee, I'm surprised someone hasn't come out with zombie figures before now. I love the traditional movies with Voodoo zombies but the Romero type ones mystify me too, I mean 'brains, brains' and 'shoot for the head' seems like if you've seen one of them you've seen all of them- YMMV...

...I don't get the whole Zombie craze...
I'm not sure there ever was a Zombie craze.
Zombies are the new Vampires!
Popularity of the T.V. series The Walking Dead and the movie series Twilight cannot be denied, one of the favorite Call of Duty video game mods is Zombie maps.
Its a common evil foe that rally's cooperation.
The Greatest generation united against Hitler, the gamming generation fights the Zombie apocalypse.
Technically, not zombies, but Las Plagas infected people along with Alice (or a clone of Alice) from the movie, Resident Evil: Afterlife. Las Plagas infected people are similar to the people infected by the traditional Alien (from that movie series) where the parasite uses the person as a host and then leaves the body, killing the host as it leaves.
The original Resident Evil movies used T-virus that turned the people into mutant zombies. Some FAQs from the Afterlife movie are here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220634/faq?ref_=tt_faq_sm
While I have noticed many modelers dismissing this set, I bet they will eventually become as highly sought after as AEF Designs' Aliens Colonial Marines. I also think that they will attract sci-fi modelers to try regular military model as a lot of the hardware used in these movies are paramilitary in nature.
Now that is something I would love to see- if MB (or anybody) did the Colonial Marines in 1/35 plastic.
AEF Designs did them in 1/35 scale, long ago. Big money today on eBay. I think he also did the interior for the APC.
As far as a craze, there was World War Z, I am Legend, Warm Bodies, and the rest of the zombie-centric movies. Even Game of Thrones has a zombie presence.
There are the Walking Dead type of traditional zombies, i.e. unthinking, reanimated dead people and pieces of dead people lumbering about.
Superhuman undead like World War Z and many of the Resident Evil style mutant zombies. They swarm like a colony of ants and can climb skyscrapers on the backs of one another.
I Am Legend style mutant/zombies that move like the wind with impossible strength, but still have some semblance of human organization.
Take your pick.
...Zombies are the new Vampires!...
Not from where I sit. I like the old "traditional" vampires.
Aliens are more fun.
EasyMike ...Zombies are the new Vampires!... Not from where I sit. I like the old "traditional" vampires.
Heck yeah! And I prefer old school zombies too. This guy eats no brains and never gets shot in the head but is scary as ...
SP: Well you could have alien zombie/vampires...
stikpusher Aliens are more fun.
"Return of The Living Dead" I&II funny stuff. "The Omega Man". I prefer my zombies slow and stupid. ( Am I really discussing this?) Bob
It's current pop culture. Yeah, unthinking, slow, lumbering, brain eating zombies are preferable to super human, mutated, zombies that work together like a swarm of army ants.
I saw this from Live Resin as a prototype which I think looks good and may be a sign of things to come from them in this area.

The thing about the zombie shows (movies, games , etc) that bother me is that in the "universe" of those shows zombies are someone's son, daughter, mother, father, etc and you have to blow their heads off! Now having the zombies as aliens doesn't bother me.
Does that make me an alien-ist?
I was so happy when I saw that MB put this kit out! I love any kind of zombies and I hope MB makes more of these kits. If no one else buys them I will!
Models on the bench:
Too many to count!
It would be nice if MB came out with a set of post apocalyptic non-zombie figures that could be used any kind of situation along with the currently available Meng pickup trucks, Tankom cars or vans and other 1/35th scale civilian vehicles. Of course some people are going dezombize the figures , re-position the arms and change the head on the figure that is chewing on a bone or some other body part,, to use them as ordinary civilians. Most will use them in their own diorama versions of the "Walking Dead"..
As if the MB zombie set isn't enough AMS, a company I've never heard of, is coming out with set of six 1/45th scale undead figures including one in a apparently ineffective hazmet suit. Now if someone would come out with a set of zombie hunters.
