Heavy Construction Equipment Kits?
Posted by Spock79 on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 4:50 PM

Well, I recently developed an appreciation for heavy equipment models such as bulldozers, front end loaders, dump trucks, etc. Something about the amount of detail you can put into all of those with all the heavy dirt, heavy wear, scratches, rust, grease, hydraulic hoses, and everything else just seems like a killer fun route to explore.

Unfortunately, it seems pickens are very slim with these types of models. In fact I so far have only managed to find a bad ass D9R armored dozer kit from Meng, a military dozer kit from Tamiya, and a vintage dozer kit from AMT.. outside of that my searches have come up empty handed. I have found a couple of ford dump truck kits, but not like the big Cats you see cruisin around quaries and such. Any suggestions?

Also would love to get my hands on a garbage truck kit.. which I have found absolutely none available.

Perhaps not all that heavy, but it exists.

Did a little looking, quite a few 1/87 (HO) excavator kits , probably more types in the equipment line for the model rail folks. There might be some in 1/48 for the "O" guage railroaders

Not what you are looking for but also quite a few die-cast in anything up to 1/24-25

Revell Germany has a 1:25 Kenworth dump truck that you might enjoy. I built one a few years ago and found it to be a good kit.

First you ask about non-Gundam mechas, and now this. You and I have these things in common! Smile In general you are right, pickings are slim.

I have an AMT Payhauler 350, which is a big dump truck you see in quarries. I also have a die-cast kit of a front loader, but I can't recall who makes it.
