Order of the Golden Gryphon

Here is Nocturna Models’ (smallish) 54mm resin “Storm Griffon.’

This is painted in acrylics. I added “hair” to the rider’s head. The kit base is blended into a base from Birch Tree Productions (birchtreejohn@aol.com). To get iridescence on the feathers, I used a gold dry medium from Citadel. The base colors (at least five shades of browns in the wings) were airbrushed Vallejo Model Colors. The cape and torso of the gryphon were also airbrushed with Vallejo Model Color (not the airbrush specific line). The armor base is ModelMaster buffable gunmetal metallizer.

Hey Ajlafleche: I like!!! Then again I've always loved griffons- it's like an eagle and a lion all in one.

Nice animated look on the griffon's face, looks really fierce. And great work on the feathers and the detailing. Cool work on the base too.

Only thing that sticks out for me is the angle of the right wing, kinda pointing downward. Just the angle and pose looks a little off to me - wonder why the sculptor designed it that way? Maybe it's just me.

Here's the box art:

I agree, it looks a bit unusual, but I suspect the sculptor had to consider the foot print of the finished kit and the visibility of the rider along with making it somewhat dramatic.

Yeah, it does look like it fits the rider's right leg better folded down.

Again, great job!
