54mm Son Tay Raider
Posted by stikpusher on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 2:31 AM

I originally started this guy 2 1/2 years ago for a Figure GB here. But two moves and several other projects got in the way of finishing. So over the past few weeks I started doing the detail painting, washes and drybrushing needed to finish him up. This is a 54mm white metal figure (Valiant Miniatures I think was the maker) of a US Army SF trooper as they looked for the November 1970 POW Rescue attempt at Son Tay, North Vietnam.

Hello!

I like the subbject a lot. Unfortunately, I don't like the shape of the figure too much - the folds of the cloth are too baggy for me. Did you have fun painting it? Hope to see more Vietnam subjects, thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Thanks Pavel. Yes I did enjoy the painting. It was a good learning experience. The moldings do seem a bit soft compared to today's current resin stuff. I suppose the baggyness is personal taste.  You will see more Vietnam subjects from me over time. Each hopefully a little better than the last one.
