My teenaged son is heavily into a wargame called "Flames of War". The figures are too small for my tastes (15mm?), but the scenario guides contain pretty decent uniform references and tutorial articles on painting the various forces within the game. If your local hobby shop carries the game, look for the "Market Garden" supplements, which contain good references for the Red Devils in the Arnhem battles. All of the painting guides use Vellajo paint references, which is pretty convenient. I believe that there may even be a few of these guides published to the "Flames of War" website, but there are also several YouTube videos demonstrating techniques for painting the camoflagued Dennison smocks used by British paratroopers. Just Google "painting ww2 british paratroopers" and you'll get a few video tutorials in the search returns.

The Denison smock is one of the easier camo patterns to paint. Do the light base color, then the brown, and then the green...

Similar to the later "water pattern"

but not to the earlier "splinter pattern"

".. it's all very well for the country, but I doubt very much if it's gonna fool any one in the town... (ring ring, ring ring), c'mon, c'mon.... (occupant opens door) ah look  now, I'm awfully sorry, but I'm afraid we're going to have to occupy your house. Oh  D ick, take your men, occupy that house across the road, make sure you can cover the bridge from your side. All right chaps we're in here!"
