Nice.  Adds contrast to the piece.  I think it matches the uniforms better, too.

I wish I had more advice on making bases. I've not done but only a few myself. Although I do keep saving twigs and anything that looks good or to scale. I have a lot of materials to work with, but I'm always finding a reason why I can't.

Most of what I've done has been on warhammer fig bases. Sadly most of my work goes without a proper display base... Because I'm lazy when it comes to that part.

But one day... Eventually.

Thank you Mike! Bases are my latest new challenge to get a grasp on. I have a ways to go with those, so any advice that you have will be greatly appreciated.

That is freaking cool. Lol.

Nicely executed all around and the base is perfect for the mood you set. :). I really like it.

Well this is what I found at Hobby Lobby

and this is how it works out on the base... much better now to my eye and not so monotone. Now it definitely looks more cold weather...

Before I added the snow I hit them with another blast of flat coat to cut down on some sheen that the base and figures had. Now I am content with this... unless of course I can come up with some expended 12.7mm brass... I am calling these boys done

Comments and critiques are welcome...Blind Fold

Well that certainly "spiced" things up.  What did you get from Hobby Lobby?

Thanks guys. Yesterday afternoon I added some spice rack seasonings for vegetation, and like how those added to this

But I just got back from Hobby Lobby a short while ago and found something else there to add to break up the monotone look...

Very cool, even a cheap base really adds to the figures. Plus if you're cementing them down it should help with them getting knocked around and broken.

Thanks Bish. The base is a huge boost for this set.

I touched up the black edging this morning. Looking much better now, although it still needs something else on the groundwork I think.

Well this past week I decided to get off my rump and do a stand for this (and a couple of other builds), so I began the work. I am using a cheapy plaque that you can buy for a buck or so at Hobby Lobby, and some craft paint to paint the edges black. Wall spackle for the ground work topped off with sifted garden dirt for texture and painted in a few earth tones for variety of shading.

the basic stand with spackle compound

sifted dirt added on (fixed in place with Future)

painted in earth tones

and a test fit with gun and crew

almost completed..
Thanks for looking
