Need 1/35 WWII Pacific Theater Figures...Non-Combat Poses
Posted by SMJmodeler on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 4:06 PM

Guys: I am striking out BIG-TIME on finding some "at rest" 1/35 WWII Pacific Theater figures, does anybody have suggestions on where I might find some?

Envision a soldier who is taking supplies to the front lines on the crappy roads of a pacific island...in an M4 High Speed Tractor

I'm really hoping to find a driver wearing combat clothing or maybe a figure wearing the same uniform leaning/ taking a break.

Other ideas/ suggestions...?  I'm all ears!

I would suggest looking in Mini Art's or Verlinden's line ups. I have vague recollections of some that may work. Or perhaps modifying some Vietnam era figures.

stikpusher: I checked Mini Art but didn't check the full line-up Verlinden so I'll have to go back and do that.  Never thought of modifying Vietnam fig's, hmmm...that could work.  I could use the shirt & pants from Vietnam and then add a WWII head & helmut and then accessorize with WWII stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion!

The Vietnam era jungle fatigue pants will need to be modified to represent WWII HBT fatigues commonly used in the PTO. The cargo pockets are in different locations and of a different style. Also you will need to change the boots. Jungle boots to M-1943 buckle boots or shoes & leggings.

Dragon did a few sets of Korean War figures like Marines years back. Not sure if they'd be useful, most were in combat poses though.

Tamiya gun crew set, though it might be easier to find with the self-propeled gun:

... and last year they released an officer set, couple sitting figure in there too:

stikpusher: That sounds like a lot more work than I'd be willing to do...but thanks for the info.

gamera: Dragon does have a couple that were OK...you're right though, they are in combat poses.

jgeratic: Thanks for your effort...I should have clarified I want US figures

Guys: I DID find what I wanted thanks to stikpusher.  I checked out Verlinden figs through a basic ebay search but stikpusher helped the light go onIdea.  I went...duhBlack Eye SMJ go DIRECTLY to the Verlinden website.  I found (3) WWII US Marines sets that are close and/or easily modified to get the look I'm going for...

I am really surprised that neither of the two "hot weather" guys from this set would not work for you... with new heads of course

or the seated driver figure here

My bad, should of paid more attention to the type of tractor.

Couple other crew sets to consider from Bravo 6:

stikpusher: For some reason I have some sorta' mental block about altering the figures. I saw those figs on line, specifically the guy driving, but I didn't like the floppy hat he was wearing. I felt that even though my AFV would be in a non-combat situation it should still be "ready" (ambush, etc...) and the driver should at least be wearing a helmut. But duhBlack Eye It just dawned on meIdea that I could swap heads within the kit...or from my parts bin which I KNOW has some WWII US guys and probably a spare helmut or two!  I'll re-look at both with a more open mind...I already think I can make them work and get much closer to the poses I originally intended.

Thanks for your diligence to help me on this, I seriously do appreciate it.Beer

jgeratic: No prob' that you didn't notice my US AFV, I appreciate your effort.  That seated fig' in the second set has some potential!
