Testors works good. The flat white makes for a nice underbase. I've also used an automotive enamel primer. You want something with good adhesion and that covers with a thin coat so as to not fill in or soften any detail.

let it cure for at least 24 hours before painting over it.

I often use Humbrol enamel primer in a spray pack for fiqures I paint with acrylics.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.
