Hi,
I have just researcged for 1 1/2 hrs and came up with nothing. So I came here.
I am going to do some germans for a dio in holland of 1944. They are just regular old germans nothing special like SS. Is it just sandard field grey or did regular infantry have camo in 44? Please help with this one.

thanksSmile [:)]

I believe I can be of assistance. Germans mostly used a 50/50 mix of regular uniforms and camo ones. u can do all field grey uniforms if u want and for more accurate boots, they FOR THE MOST PART wont be the good ones that the germans started the war with... u know the ones that went up the shin half way. they used those tennishoe type ones with the canvis leg wrappings. the splinter cammo pattern would be the one you saw on wermacht troops and paratroops. SS (incase you change your mind later) would probably use like pea pattern uniforms or smocks. for the weapons, Stg 44's would be seen as well as grewer semi auto rifles and mg 42's and ofcourse the old fashioned mauser kar 98k would be with infantry units. hope some of this info helps =D later

just a sec there treadhead, I believe that the Heer also had some of its own camo uni's during the war, not jsut t he para's and SS. pretty much the same pattern types though. in any case, a lot of times some fo teh regulars troops just picked up some SS camo smocks because of their effectiveness.

BTW, jimq, thnx for the great site man! here's a couple I've found:

In my opinion, painting each article of clothing a different shade looks realistic. I love Polly Scale's German Uniform Gray. Its just one color I use but my favorite...Good Luck
