A new Source for Paper Models .
Posted by Tanker - Builder on Friday, June 22, 2018 12:18 PM

 Hi ;

 I can't say enough about Bob Mays and  his " Paper " models . Paper is a misnomer though .This is truly " Card " modeling .The stock is card thick , Lazer printed and Precise .The subjects are mostly Great lakes freight related , But more are coming .

 The parts fit well as long as you limit the scissor cuts to a minimum and use X-Acto knives and rulers for the rest . They are colorful , strong and pleasant to build and display.

 The thing is , he is willing to broaden his listings . I would imagine that it will come to pass as he gets research material . Watch him closely . Oh , His prices are extraordinarily fair too !

A great guy to deal with. Recently had him at our IPMS meeting for a discussion on his products.

Just a reminder to space enthusiasts that several NASA sites have free artwork for space vehicles and launch vehicles.  You print them on your own paper/cardstock.

Thanks for the terrific link.

I see that he has many outlets for his paper kits but none in my area.  I did not see a way to order online so I sent the Lake Freighter Minis site a request.

 The images of the Great lakes kits look really good.  I do not have much experience with paper models but these look very do-able. (for me that means Lottsa Straight Lines!)

As regards "A new source for paper models"...

Here's one link for free stuff with many models listed as from another Bob Mays.

Free to download!  What a deal.

P.S. There is another link for another Robert Mays with Spacecraft as his primary interest.  It is very informative. http://amaysingpc.blogspot.com/2015/12/

   EDIT:   I heard back ( quick Service!)

Per Robert Mays: "To purchase our product, please visit our authorized client Atlantis Toy and Hobby. They can be reached at,

As Spock would say: Facinating. This looks like a really fun challenge. I've looked at Fiddler's Green paper models in the past but generally went "meh." Might have to open my mind a little. Plus I'm sure that there is a paper model of a T.A.R.D.I.S. out there somewhere.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
