LOL, Thanks, Woody!

And thanks Paul, Huxy, and Terry, for keeping tuned in! I appreciate your comments!

Terry, I emailed you, buddy! If you can help, I'd appreciate it!

I might need some help too, with the coloring of alll the panels--what little squares or circles, etc, are gray, or red, etc. That guy isn't accepting orders for his decals on that site, so I have to improvise.... I'm also wondering what "version" Eagle is this? First year? Second year?

Try ebay for decals I know there is a guy doing a set. Worst case try buying letraset, dont ask me the set numbers.

As for a year, one or two, the kit your working on is just offensive. Its more of a toy.

no matter how much effort you put in it just kicks back but don't despair....

http://www.eagletransporter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4861

this is somebody trying to superdetail one of these.

As you may know the box art shows a rescue eagle, that only appeared in year one.

you would be better off buying a product enterprises eagle on ebay and repainting it yourself.

I make it 18mm from the base of the foot to the bottom of the shoulder pod. thats for an 11 inch model,

This may be of help with the main engines, its a match to the layout of one my friend photographed in the 70's when people wore flares and watched Space1999.

Try this site its a goldmine, the jackpot and the motherload. this guy owns the original.

http://homepages.tesco.net/d.sisson/eagle1.htm

try this one aswell....

If you need anything else just mail me.

Thanks, terry!

I appreciate the info here; I ordered some decals from eBay; that should be a big help!

Oh my god---that guy's Eagle on the forums there-the one that he's accurizing from the ground up? WOW! AMAZING!!!!

I"m not too crazy or disappointed about having less than 100% accuracy on this one--this kit was really a "gift to myself", one that I wanted to build to take me back to my childhood. I just wanted to detail and correct some of the more egregious errors and simplifications, like the engines and the landing gear legs. I even thought about correcting the actual pads, but decided they look fine as they are.

Thansk for the measurement too--mine comes up just a shade short; actually, I measured the height of the kit legs before I cut them off, and it's shorter by about 2mm's from your measurement  I'm about to do n update here; you'll be able to see it; I think it looks pretty ok...

Thanks, again!

Well, I'm ready for painting--I think.....if anybody sees anything glaring here, shout it out before I commit! Smile [:)]

Here's the finished cockpit before I sealed it up...

The finishing of the landing gear started with two parallel .040 strips glued to an .040 X .010 strip wrapped around the leg there....

And then two bars of .040 rods to support them.

I can't believe I got them all to sit evenly!

Then, I fashioned some springy things to go on them like shock absorbers or something....hey, I don't know how this stuff works!? Whistling [:-^] I decided to keep the kit's "shoes"--the landing pads themselves.I'm just trying to make a decent representation out of this model, nnot necessarily use it in the remade series! LOL!

I added some mounting strips to the cockpit attachment, and to the tops of the girders joining the body to the upper girder...

...and in the rear, here...

I finished all the duct work and pipes in the engines...top;

...bottom...

.....additional views.....

Alan Carter in the house!!!

And a view from the side and top!

Well, that's where I've taken this build so far, as far as correcting and detailing. I'm pretty happy with the improvements I've made in making it a decent representation of an Eagle.

Next up; priming and painting....

Any comments or suggestions are more than welcomed! Anybody out there?!? Alpha?

to swipe a line from a favorite movie, Man on Fire, Some men work with oils, some with clay, others with food.  Doog works with plastic, and he's going to make a masterpiece.

You, sir, have talent. I'd watch a WIP if you were making a 1/16 lawn mower.

Thank you kindly, Bill! Blush [:I] I appreciate the comment! Smile [:)] It's not like "Armor" over here, where you'll get ten guys to comment on any given build or post! Over 620 Views of this thread so far, and only a handful of familiar faces even bother giving any support! Odd.....?

It's like.....well; like being on the moon over here! Sigh [sigh]

I appreciate the Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  Thanks for looking in! Big Smile [:D]

Geez, maybe I should try a "Klingon lawnmower" or something, LOL!

Ya got that right--I do love to model! Smile [:)] (anything but planes...LOL!)

Who knows, friend? Maybe some day in the future?...wouldn't mind doing a Stuka some day, or a Messy...Messer...Mess-a-shmiff--whatever they're called!? LOL! Laugh [(-D]

I appreciate you coming out to this orbit to check it out! Wink [;)]

Messerschmitt is the correct name for the manufacturer.

Meshershmit is how it is pronounced.

It IS as simple as that, Doog! Wink [;)]

Oh... Stuka is made by the manufacturer

JUNKER

Junker was also what was the nickname to any German aircraft during the battle of Britain. Even though it was a

HEINKEL

It was still "Blue 1 to Wizard. Junker spotted!"

Heinkel was the ones who made the famous HEINKEL 3, or HE III.  Also nicknamed (In my family) "The flying fishtank".

Anything more? Big Smile [:D]

This project is fantastic and is coming along great, it is really a beautiful space ship and you are doing justice to the original desing that the kit didn't have from the start.

Doog,

Looking good.

Probably not a lot of comments because it's the Sci Fi section and most of the folks don't want others to know they lurk here on occasion. Wink [;)]

Plus the Eagle is kinda off the beaten track for most folk that stick with SW, ST and mecha.

A good modeler will tackle every thing, not box themself into one subject.Whistling [:-^]

nothing wrong with SF.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it but the upper 'ladder' part of the dorsal frame is about twice as wide as it should be. There is no easy way to correct this without major surgery but if you CAN fix it, it looks SO much better

I build it all.

Ok, Doog.. here's why you should build one..

It's German WWII.

It supported the German ground forces.

Build a Stuka and a Stuka Zu fuzz.. line them up togheter ;)

Again, it's German WWII..

 And it's a model..

Now...?

Well, the SF kits I do build don't include SW or the politically correct Fed wimps from ST: only Klingon cruisers for me. Otherwise, my collection includes Babylon 5 (Starfury and Thunderbolt), Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, UFO, Space:1999, BattleTech (Clans only), CAV, and Gear Krieg.

Hey thanks guys--nice to get some chattering' traffic here! Big Smile [:D] Thanks for the comments and compliments!

Hmmm. well, I don't think I'll go in for the dorsal ladder fix, cm; That will have to wait for the "second" major rebuild, if I ever indeed do get around to one! But thanks for that info; I didn't even notice that.

Nothing wrong with Sci-Fi. I've been a fan for ages!

Huxy, maybe once I pare down my stash a little more, I'll think about it?  Wink [;)]

Doog, This is the first time I've taken the time to compliment (I am sorry for that oversight!!!!). Your castle, the Hetzer and now this... I also loved Space 1999!! had the orginil eagle kit and have had the repop in my stash. seeing this build I have fasttracted my eagle to the front of the list After I finish the Luft '46 (3) I'm working on are finished! I detect, from comments made you don't/Haven't built an A/C yet? Might I recomennd a Luft '46 project like a Horton 229 it looks SciFi like and but was German WW2..... Keep up the good work and inspiration!!!!!!            Gary W.

Thank you, Gary! Thanks for commenting, and I'm happy to hear that you've been inspired by that which I so love to do; to model whatever catches my fancy!

Space 1999 was a cool show, even if it now looks a litttle dated on my DVDs that I have of the first two years! The one thing that always shines for me though is this ship! I love the Eagles!

I wonder if AMT will ever re-release this? I know there are some other Japanese models out there, but the ones I've seen are even worse than this one--the one has red plastic?!?!

Thanks again for looking in, Gary! Smile [:)]

Red plastic? Must be the 1/100 scale Imai kit, though it came with red and white plastic. (I know...I own the kit. Ashamed [*^_^*])

Doog

Very nice work on the eagle! It's good to branch out and built subjects that aren't necessarily what you normally build. I go to all modeling forums, ships, armor, aircraft and get lots of valuable information. I have recently been lurking and posting in armor forums because being a noob to airbrushing and weathering, I felt that was a great place to go for information and it has been. In my current build of a klingon cruiser, I felt it was a "tank" in space LOL! So I am painting it accordingly. Thanks for all the valuable information and a shout out to all you armor modelers!

Looking cool, doog. Takes me back to my younger years and reminds me of a toy I had of the thing. It was die cast and the center pod was detachable via a button on top of the thing. Many, many moons ago.

I remember that one - it had sprung landing gear pads too, if I recall correctly, and was. bizzarely, painted in metallic green.

Jagdwolf--that's the one; the Amai kit! It doesn't look like a stellar kit, from what I could tell!

Thanks,  KlingonCommander; lot's of good info over there in Armor for sure. "A tank in space"--yup; that's a cool way to think of it. I'm going to go with a slightly distressed finish on this one as well. It should be quite the challenge to make it look "weathered" but within the frame and context of space, and not a WWII batlefield! LOL!

Thanks, hkshooter, and Phil H---I appreciate you keeping up with this post, and giving your My 2 cents [2c]! Always nice to reminisce about the early years! Smile [:)] Dreadful, by the way, that metallic greeen "dinky" as it was called, I believe? I think you can still find them on eBay?

Nice looking Eagle, Karl. Now if only you'd build a ship and a plane you truly could say that you are a jack of all trades, master of noneBig Smile [:D]. Seriously, your skills at taking a dated or otherwise difficult kit and turning it into a well done replica are what most aspire to.                  Regards, Bill

Thanks Bill!I appreciate your comments! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I have to laugh--I have already got a ship build in my inventory--I built this Monogram Cutty Sark at least 15 years ago. I guess now the Aircraft guys are really going to be on my butt now to do a plane and "prove myself" capable of it, lol!

Karl, I have a suggestion for your A/C build, its available in both 1/72(My Preferred scale) and 1/48th, The Horton HO(GO)229! Its simple, a flying wing. There is lots of info on the net, Its WWII Deutsch And it looks like something from BSG or B5.....

So is the Eagle done yet? I was given the moonbase Alpha kit a few years back and I'm thinking about pulling it out also alonmg with my eagle. Lrt us know when its done and you start on an A/C!!!!!!!!!
