Tron Models?
Posted by Newtothis on Monday, July 7, 2014 8:32 AM

I just finished watching both movies back to back.  Actually, I think Tron Legacy comes across as a much better film when you watch it immediately after the first one.  So it got me thinking, there is a wealth of great modelling subjects between these two films.  This is especially true of Tron Legacy, which is intentionally more "realistic" because the "new system" is supposed to be a better version than the original Grid.

Has anyone here done anything from these films, or considering it?

There is a garage kit of the light cycle and game tank from the original film. I'm a big fan of the movies but don't own either so I can't comment of the quality. I found them at Monsters in Motion- you might find them cheaper elsewhere though.

I'm a little surprised not the see any garage kits from 'Legacy' - some really cool stuff there like Qura's (sp?) dune buggy.

I haven't personally seen any TRON kits. I did, however, buy an already put together "toy" model of Flynn's Light Cycle from Toys R Us when the movie was released. It lights up and made for a great shelf display with my other Pop Culture Sci-Fi stuff. It is very well made.

I always thought the Recognizer would have made an awesome BoomBox housing but then the nerd factor carrying it around would have been off the scales.

Soajp: Ya know I hadn't even thought about the toy line. I might have to check out Ebay and some other sites to see if I can still find some of these.

BM: LOL, that would be pretty darn cool! I'd thought about seeing about wiring up my leather jacket with LEDs etc TRON style but as you say I'm already a big enough geek as is!

A Boom Box recognizer, LOL!! Yup, those who 'know' will know and those who don't will have to ask.
