A bit more of frame work and cockpit work.  The chairs will be repainted both front and back ones since the color is wrong.

Thanks guys! So far Im loving the experience.  The literature provided is  very nice and gives some info that Ive never seen anywhere.  Will continue to update more as more parts come in.

One of the more interesting features of the build is when they tell you where each of those parts came from and the history behind the build itself. It's an amazing model in all categories.

Hey Joe... thought I would pop in and say Hi.  Love the work you did on  the MPC.  I've got two MPC's in my stash I've been thinking of taking out and working on (even got the Falcon Sidewall and Landing Gear kit for one of them).  I'll be following you my friend!  Looking good so far!

Oh... you may get some good ideas from my friend Ian who's been working on this kit for awhile.  Since he's in the UK he's gotten up to Issue 17 I think.  So he's way ahead of us in the build stages.  But he's done some awesome work so far.  He's doing 2 of  them.  One OOB with no modifications... the other he's doing to the 5' footer standards.  He knows I'll be stealing a bunch of his ideas as I continue with this baby!  Here's a link to his pages for reference:

Here's a good tip for ya Joe... run a felt tip marker along the edge of the sticker on the cockpit console.  It'll make it look a bit more realistic and not so stickerish! :)

This time there were a lot of pieces that came without any instructions, you will have to save them until the times comes to use it.

The cockpit and LED lighting are finished for now.  Its starting to take shape.  So far no major problems have been experienced.

Added the tubing greeblies that came with the kit but added a few details and an additional tube made of solder wire.  Will add more and detail and weather accordingly. Also detailed the console and will dry brush it later.

Yeah but how much $$$ will this cost when done? Those DeAgostino subscription kits are very expensive. They're like Pocher car kits, great stuff but you could almost buy the real car for the same money. ;-) 

Yes, its not a cheap model, but its a kit nonetheless and it needs at least a decent modeler to make them reach their full potential.  So, I may not be the ultimate modeler, but the price of the kit does not by default makes it the ultimate detailed kit. It need someone who at least knows whats he or she is doing In fact it does need work to make it shine and its not an easy kit to get into.

I am enjoying each installment very much. This kit looks like a blast and you're doing a fine job with it.

I've been curious about these kits, and it's a real pleasure to be able to watch one go together  "live".

Scarecrow Joe, just wondering what your thoughts are on this model kit now that you are a few months into the build process? Is it nicer than the finemolds 1/72 Falcon? I'm definitely interested in getting the D'Agostini kit for myself, but I'm second guessing myself because of the $1500 total pricetag when I can get a finemolds Falcon for a third of the price.

Well, I think the Deagostini is spot on in accuracy.  Its a copy of the original film prop and that has been  corroborated by other sources. The FineMolds is a nice kit but has some accuracy issues.  Its definitely better than the MPC though.  This DeAgo Falcon is in the league of the Master Replicas one, only with more detail, specially in the interior areas which the MR one lacks. Those MR ones are around $5,000 if you can find them.  I believe that at this time is the definitive Falcon kit and in the end it will be a hot item among fans, driving the price upwards.

Is it perfect? Nope. Needs work to make it look its best.  Recently ordered a few items from Shapeways to make the interior much better. I will completely paint it too although it would look fine as it is. You can customize it as much as you want which is a plus.  It's designed for builders though, if anyone lacks the patience or believes its an easy kit they will have a hard time, IMO.

Could you list the details that Shapeways offers; or the ones you plan to use?

I see the cockpit, cockpit cone, and cockpit walls details that come up to about an extra $200, as well as a hallway grill pit set that comes up to about $30. Is there anything else they offer or you plan to use?

I concentrated on the interior part and so far Have left the cockpit as it came with the kit since I think its pretty good.

I ordered the floor panel with the access pit grills, Nav Console with helmet and a set of hall bits (includes various items to add more detail).  I may later order the rectangular radar of Episode 7. Thats it at least for now. If you search for DEAGO Falcon you will see all the items they are offering for the kit.
