Star Trek and Other Sci Fi Model need a home FREE
Posted by Gerry on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 4:31 PM

The thing is, I have a HUGE inventory of models, mostly Star Trek but also Star Wars and other Scifi models...50 to 75.  I love doing the models but my health doesn't allow me to anymore - my hands won't do the work.

I want to find someone in the San Diego area who could use them. Not for sale, these are FREE to good home. I mean build them not re-sell. I want to help someone who can't afford the models....I have a few expensive ones like the top of the line X-Wing fighter that cost over a hundred....and many others.

So is anyone in San Diego who does models and could use some of these? I'm not paying for shipping so San Diego California area only

If you belong to a club, take them to a meeting.  Or go to model show or contest.  IPMS could help as well.

Sadly San Diego is a desert of modeling activity. Only two hobby shops left and they're more about RC cars and helicopters. But thanks for the thought

I love Star trek, but why not sell them? or donate to military? you just don't want to bother with shipping them?

Hi Jerry ;

   Heres a thought .You have a Large V.A. Hospital there .Why don't you contact them ( the recreation dept. ) and see if they would like them .The vets enjoy building them . T.B.

I'm in Escondido, and a member of one of the modeling clubs. I think I could take the StarWars stuff off your hands.

I know there is IPMS Chapter, an AMPS Chapter, and another non affiliated model club, "The Secret Model Society" in your area. As well as the Temecula Valley Model Club in your County as well. There may not be many hobby shops left in your area, but enough modelers to fill out 4 clubs in your area.

@ waikong - I'd rather help a poor modeler out. Someone who wants to build but doesn't always have the funds. Already I've given some to a guy living on disability. He'll be happy do build them and I'm happy to know they were useful to someone. It's a "Pay Forward" kind of thing.

My other post obviously hasn't shown up... I'm in Escondido, and will relieve you of any StarWars stuff you might still have. Since you can't build, is there anything else you'd like in return?

Give me a call if you like, 563-343-0704 (just moved here and still have my IA number)

Well, most of the star wars and battle star galactica models are gone. But still plenty of star trek ... TOS, movies, next gen. A couple of Battlestar left, cylons and vipers. And some real ships like voyager space craft and US space shuttle. Lost in Space POD and cars....ghostbusters, Jetson's flying car etc..... all still available free...

Oh, also the ship from the movie Forbidden Planet. Very detailed interior on that one.

I guess (and it's not that much of a guess), that all of us will eventularly come to the end of building days.  I hope our stashes do as much good as yours is doing.  A wonderful gesture.

Well, a quick road trip, and this kind offer was graciously fulfilled. I just want to publicly say many thanks to Gerry. And also thank you for showing me your builds! YesYes
