Update time!
Finished running all the fiber optics. And yes, I used all 160 feet of fiber with just trimmings left over. I got all my LEDs wired up and fiber cups installed. Below are some progress pictures.

Pre wired LEDs ready to install.

And a quick lighting test.

Whoa, it's seeing the thing all lighted up that makes drilling holes till your eyes and fingers bleed worth it. Dead

Nah, it wasn't bad. I had all the holes drilled in just a couple of evenings. You get in a rethym when drilling this many holes, I think about 400 maybe? I need to count them all!

That is simply amazing work!  I haven't built a SF model since NCC-1701-A when I was a kid.  I might have to pick this kit up!

Thanks guys. Yes, Revell of Germany will issue a rebox of this kit for European sales in April and Revell USA will rebox the kit for sales in the US in May, a month later.

Insert giddy school girl laughter here. DON'T judge me...unless its on the table LOL. I will be one with the other dark side whenever it comes to the U.S. Great work Robiwon, stop counting I promise mine will not have as many holes. So Cool.

LOL, Armornut! It's not a contest, drill as many holes as you want!Whistling

I'm also adding.....remote control to control the lights! I will be able to turn the lights on and off from a key fob type remote as well as control the brightness of the LEDs. So my thought now is to wire in a seperate on/off switch for the engines. This way, I can keep the engines at maximum brightness and use the remote to dim the windows to a more scale lighting.

Nice! Always regretted not picking up an old MPC kit for $10 when our HobbyTown closed five years ago. Definetly have to save up for this!

How much does the Zvezda kit run? I've seen the kids snap together Revell Rogue One kit for around $30, but doesn't look like a high quality detail model.

The much bigger Zvezda kits runs anywhere from $90-130 on ebay. Revell of Germany will rebox it in April while Revell USA will rebox it in May. Prices will be a bit lower than ebay.

With a bit of work, the smaller snap tite Revell kit builds into a decent model.

You never commented on how the paint did in the seam? That line is a stopping point for me and was curious how people were attacking it.

It was a good weekend! I finished the fiber optics for the underside hangars. I got all three hull sub assemblies glued (nerve wracking as heck!), got black primer laid down, followed that with grey primer for paneling, masked my panels off, and got the first coat of white on!

Final color coats applied. After priming in grey (seen above) I had masked off various panels. The model was shot with Duplicolor Universal White and the masks removed. This revealed grey primer panels. Obviously these are too dark as is, so another few light coats of white were applied to almost cover the grey panels. This is the same technique I used on my Revell snap kit. Closely monitoring the coverage I stopped just before the grey panels disappeared. This gave a nice and evenly controlled panel effect without a lot of masking and painting or the need for airbrushing. Once I clip the fibers, I'll post better shots of the paneling effect.

Paint is done. Need to do a medium grey wash this afternoon. Detail pieces added (canons, crane, antenna, etc.). Engines look good. I'll do a little detail painting in the garbage chute as well.
