And hope you don't have to face an infestation of flying turtles...

omg. Get me a baseball bat. Lol!

Or some Ninja Turtle pizza to throw at it.  they liked pizza right. Confused

Then my moths might like eating pizza. Lol. How about Godzilla. Godzilla used to fight Gamera the flying turtle. Maybe we can see an epic clash in this.

Pizza might work, put it some distance from the house though.

If Godzilla and Gamera fight they'll probably trample your house and the Icarus. And you put way too much work in there for that to happen.

BTW: I found this photo- looks like Dracula made it to the 'Planet of the Apes' too. God I love stuff like this. Back when I was a kid I didn't think twice about it being odd to have Batman and Luke Skywalker team up and go to the planet of the apes to fight Dracula... Stick out tongue

I agree. It takes me back to when the only thing I needed to worry about is when the next comic book will be ready for purchase, or what new model I can slap together. Yes

This has been a public service message beamed subspace from Planet Moth, via Icarus.

For moths, there are few places that compare to the rivers of Central America.

None of these pedestrian centimeter insects, no, bat-sized beasties in every possible color combination from psychedelic to camoflauged.

That would be a sight to see... from a distance. Lol

Yes,, remove of a BBC series, thank you very much.

Especially while using night vision devices (some moths see into the infrared, sigh)

The mighty Moth Army fought mercilessly. Their vast numbers and attrition could not prevail. Indeed, it was a gallant effort. Many brave moths fell to the Icarus Confederation. Their dead ... too many to count.

The last 24 hours brought death to their most feared leader, Bongo Moth. His war drum signaled a relentless call to attack. His army decimated--Bongo Moth suffered the same fate as his fellow mothmen.

Goodbye, Bongo Moth. You fought bravely, but you could not prevail against the mighty Icarus insurrection.

I demanded some build-time this weekend.

Below: Fabricated thrusters using Evergreen Plastic Tubing.

Aside from that... a few hours spent refitting the airframe plug. The office that I made didn't allow for the plug to close correctly; I had to do a lot of sanding on it. I have said it before; this 3D printed material is very tough stuff and very difficult to sand. Even my cutting tools did a poor job. None the less--perseverance and patience prevailed.

Next up is to glue in the office and then to install the plug and repair.

PS: I just noticed the rear bulkhead is kind of crooked. I placed it on the model quickly,  for the photo. It just needs to be repositioned.

Looking good. Yes

Speaking of good, good for you for making room for yourself with some build time.

And digressing, I dislike moths. So there, bongo moth.

Great job there on the Icarus engine bells!!!

And congrads on the victory over the moth air force!!!

Though you should have put Bongo Moth in one of your sleep chambers and sent the Icarus into space. I'd love the see the look on his beady little compound eyes when he wakes up on 'PLANET OF THE SPIDERS'.

Thanks Steve, Greg, and Cliff. Painting the exterior is not that far off. Getting there.

Moths didn't bother me until now. They are dirty nasty vermon. Henceforth, all moths in the house will be mercilously destroyed.

Hey Cliff, take note: TCM is airing a bunch of Hammer films on Monday (tomorrow) starting at 7 cst. Many of our favorites. Classics.

Thanks Bakster! I used to love TCM but don't get them on my current cable TV package though... Bang Head

Course the last couple Halloween's I had most of the Hammer films they were showing on DVD and Blu-Ray anyway...

Was watching a video of people riding jetskis down the Hudson to the statue of Liberty.

Which reminded me that the Satue faces NE in the harbor.

And the last sceen in PotA has full sun, a rather tropical sun from the angle, with a tall rocky headland off the right shoulder of the Statue.

While casting New Jersey as The Forbidden Lands does seem slightly apt, it's not Atlantic geography.

Which does suggest that California has fallen off the edge of the North American Plate, and the replica Stature from Las Vegas has washed up on the new costal range.

So, spin that around in your noggin, Apes are from California.  Does that explain the furits and nuts?

Hey Capn, even as a kid when I had first seen the movie, it made no sense to me. The geography is all wrong. I had to reconcile it that there had been a massive geologic change. I suppose that is possible. Indifferent

Yeah they play that game. They know what people like so they move it into the next tier. Like the Smithsonian Channel. I always see cool stuff being aired but I am not going to pay extra to get it. That programing is the stuff that should be on Discovery or the Learning Channel. What the H happened to those channels. It nothing but reality TV. Aweful stuff.

Lol, never been to NY so I never noticed.

As a biologist I always figured the apes had been genetically engineered to enable them to walk upright, speak, etc. And then in the fourth movie they show the friggin' apes being brought off ships already able to walk upright and do everything but talk. Modern apes can't do that!!!

They can't? I work with a few that can. Hehe. Beer

Genetics seems like it would be the most plausible solution.

The dirty deed is done; the office is installed.

Below: I designed this so that the office assembly slides snugly under the cross member attached to the hull. The result is that the office is held tightly in place, and it pulls things up towards the forward window assembly. It still took some epoxy and micro positioning, but doing this really helped to anchor the assembly.

Below: The airframe plug is tacked in using two-part hobby epoxy. I hope I don't regret that. The stuff tends to shrink and twist everything with it. Sigh.

In the days ahead I will fill the gaps using the same two-part epoxy used to smooth out the 3d printing artifacts. That epoxy sands glass smooth and sands easily.

End of update.

The plug is done, but it was not without problems:

The first layer of epoxy went well. This was followed with a sanding. Unfortunately, I sanded through some because the plug was a bit raised in some areas. I had to sand those areas more aggressively. Then, a second layer of epoxy was applied and here is where the real trouble started. For some reason, the second layer did not cure properly. It remained somewhat gummy. I checked the mixing cup, and that material was rock solid. Best I can tell, the second layer reacted to the first layer. I suspect the first layer was not cured enough. The result was one big PITA. Hours wasted just to repair that mess. Once I got the lines the way I wanted, I applied thin coats of CA to seal things in, followed by a sanding to smooth things out.

I think I have it decent, certainly good enough, but I doubt it's as good as it could have been.

From here it will be a final going over, cleanup, masking of the windows, and then apply the primer coat.

End of update.

Oh gosh, I hate it when stuff just won't set up and harden...

Looks like you have stuff under control though. Good luck!!!

I know when I am nearing the end of a build... the gremlins come out. It never fails. But... as irritating as it is... it makes us better modelers.

Thanks Gam!
