Real G

I ordered the wallpaper decals for the ISD and SSD, plus the Snowspeeder.

Dang.  I’m supposed to be the one making people buy stuff.  Wink

LOL! I do not recall having any issues with the seller, but that was pre-Corona.

Oh Rob, the buyee has become the buyer.  I have fallen.

Shipping should be OK - USPS domestic service has been doing fine.  International mail on the other hand is another kettle of fish!  I have a package from Japan that shipped 3/28 and still no hint, hide, nor hair of it.  No notice of refund from the seller, so I assume it's sitting somewhere in Narita Airport gathering dust.

No matter, I have plenty to do!  I made some paint tweaks on the Blockade Runner, and so after a flat coat it will be finished - hooray!  The SSD needs a little filler at the patched joints, and the ISD only needs its engine bells painted and weathered.  Darn, these mini kits ARE addicting.  They definitely helped me get the modeling juices flowing again.

I'm having a get together with my modeling buddies this weekend, something we have not done since February.  We number less than 10, we won't be holding hands (but models and magazines WILL be shared), and no one knows anyone who got infected.  I think I'll work on the TIE fighters!

It was 1st class postage from Nevada, so it should be quick.

OK calling this one done!

I have the ISD and SSD wallpaper decals inbound, but might keep the current ISD as-is to pay homage to the original 1977 version.

Yes, I know that the main engines of the ISD are not there - they are still waiting in the paint shop.

I need to get out my regular camera, as I cannot get proper depth of field with my phone.

How big are those models (in inches)?

Rob,

The Blockade Runner is 5 inches, the ISD is 4-3/8 inches.

The detail Bandai crams into even their mini SW kits makes the US sci-fi kit makers look like slackers.

And they make slacker modelers like me look good! Smile

Those look fantastic Real G. I'd swear they were studio models in the photos other than the SD missing her main drives.

Gamera

I can see Vader strangling everyone in engineering demanding 'Why won't the ship go!?!'

Vader. “Crewman, why aren’t we moving?!”

Crewman  “Uh sorry sir, it appears that the guy building the ship forgot to paint and install the engines.”

Vader  “WHAT?!!!”

Crewman  “Uh... He was busy. He... he must have been distracted by the Rebel Scum ship he was building at the same time.  It, it won’t happen again sir.  Oh no.  No no no no no, wait sir, please sir, not that!”

Vader  “Yes THAT!”

Crewman  “Uwrrrrrrrrrrrrr...”

Vader  “Now the rest of crew, get this ship moving now.  And somebody get me my coffee!  I can’t pursue Rebel Scum without having my coffee, you all know that!”

Crew  “YES SIR!!!”

"What the hell am I looking at?!  When does this happen in the movie?"

"You're looking at now, sir.  What you see now, is happening now."

"Why can't we go back to then?"

"Because we just passed it."

"When?"

"Just now."

"So, when will then be now?"

"Soon."

Hee hee!  I should change the thread title to “Star Wars: The Mecha-Colle Kit Thread”.

So why can’t Polar Lights or Round 2 do a Spaceballs Winnebago?  Oh  yeah, ‘cause Lucas forbade it.  Sad  He knew that merchandising was where the real money from the movie was made!

Maybe Bandai could somehow swing a 1/48 Mecha-Colle kit...

The decals came in today!

Star Destroyer (4 sets on a sheet!) and Super Star Destroyer:

Snowspeeder (again, 4 sets!):

The Speeder sheet has decals to make either Luke's craft with the grey striping, or a regular craft with the orange striping.  Aaaaand you get chipped options for both.  So cool!

So the current ISD will be finished as is, without the panel decals.  I'll do an Empire Strikes Back version later with a slightly darker hull color and the decals.  That still leaves three spare sets...

Oh those decals are cool. When you and Rob were talking about them I didn't think they were basically the same as the aztec decals for Trek ships.

Gamera,

Yeah those star destroyer "wallpaper" decals are exactly like the ST Aztec ones.  Trimming them out is gonna be fun!  Stick out tongue  I think I'll make up stencils to determine where to make the cuts.

Here are better pics of the Snowspeeder decals (which look a heckuva lot easier to apply):

I have been asked a couple of times about the size of the Blockade Runner and ISD so I took a couple of pics:

I misplaced my giant fake quarter, so I had to use the giant fake hand.  Big Smile

The ISD still needs its engines, but they wil be addressed soon.  So next up is the Super Star Destroyer.

The instructions printed on the underside of the lid reminds me of those toys that came out of cereal boxes and Crackerjacks for some reason.  Except those toys were nowhere near as cool as this!

I'm still trying to erase the seam lines where the front and rear hulls join.  You can kind of make out the imperfections in this photo.

Rob,

The Snowspeeder decals are in teeny, tiny 1/144 scale.

The ISD's engines have been painted and installed.  Vader can now resume hunting the Rebel scum.

But now he demands that his Super Star Destroyer be readied for his arrival.

The crafty Rebel scum have installed a fuzz buster on their ship.
