Using plexiglass to diffuse interior lighting
Posted by batai37 on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 11:46 AM
Greetings one and all,

I'm using a Sparkchaser LED kit I bought from Federation Models to light up an 18" Enterprise, and this kit has only one bright white LED (I eventually want to be able to construct these circuits myself, this is my first starship model kit). Per suggestions I've found on the web by Don Matthys and others, I plan on using a plexiglass disk in the primary hull to diffuse the light throughout the saucer, with the one white LED mounted in the center of it. My question is this: for the remaining interior constant-on lighting, would the plexiglass disk be a sufficient light source to connect fiber optic strands to it to light up the remaining windows in the support pylon and secondary hull? Or if so, would it make more sense mounting the single white LED in the secondary hull and then running FO from it to the plexiglass disk in the primary hull? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
