Nice work ! I have this kit but haven't done anything with it yet. Plan to do a custom interior and build it as some type of land vehicle. Either with some kind of tank tracks or miniature monster truck tires of some sort.

I think I'm finally done with this one!

For the weathering I used Covergirl Shimmering onyx makeup. I ground it up with a wooden stir stick and applied it with a medium paintbrush.

I've never used pastel chalk before but I'm leaning that way here. I think it would give a good moon dust look. I've read some of the Apollo astronauts  reports on how the moon dust got everywhere and was a dark color, so I think a dark pastel might work.

Oh, I don't know. You don't need atmosphere to get weathered, you need dirt an dust. The moon has plenty of that, but no rain to clean it off. I'm told there aren't many car washes :)

But it would be all the same color dust, collected in corners and such and on the windshield. Is it still called a windshield without "wind" ?

Beautiful work there! IMHO one of the cooler craft from the movie.

A little pastel dust should work well for moon dust, nice thing about it is if you don't like it you can blow it off and start over. Since there's no wind on the moon you might try just working it around the landing jacks and where the thrusters would blow it up on the lower hull. I'd think you could use a grey dust but not sure it would stand out much against the grey hull of the bus though.

Gerry, nice Spindrift. I have one in my stash.

No real problems on the build. getting a good fit on the sides takes some work. It builds just like the old Aurora kit. Getting the side bulkheads (storage lockers) was tight. I went with the correct flat windows, but I like the look of the conformal ones.

The rear bulkhead detail is completely wrong, as was the original kit.

My roof did not fit, I had to file the front/top down about 1/16 in and it was warped. Glueing the windows in helped a lot. I also glued the side rails to the body not the roof. Now the roof snaps in tight for a clean, gap free look.

For the weathering I plan on a small amount of chipped paint and some moon dust. That should do it. Maybe some leaking hydraulic fluid around the walkers.

I'm sure you're aware of this, but easy on the weathering since this will never travel in the atmosphere.  Nice looking model.  The first one of these built I have ever seen.
