LAND OF THE GIANTS- SPINDRIFT BUILD
Posted by Tentacles on Thursday, September 26, 2013 11:33 AM

Hello all.

Being new to this forum, I'd like to share my recent Polar Lights/Aurora build of the sub-orbital transport featured in the T.V. show. A fun adult indulgence from my youth. The kit was modified inside and out with some scratch-building of the interior, red foil was used in the grill & exhaust ports, and the seams were filled and puttied.  The logo on the side was done by hand. The clear stand was painted a little to give it some flair. IMHO, this kit-next to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang one, is one of Aurora's finest kits and that says a lot!

Nice work, it was one of my favorites as a kid. I bought one of the reissues a few years back, but never got around to it, and probably never will. It always seemed like it should have held more people for the size of the ship.

Beautiful work, both inside and out!

Beautifully done. Spindrift is one of my favorites. A show I was just of an age to really enjoy when it was new! I desperately wanted to be 6 inches tall when I was 10!  I like the atmosphere weathering you put on the front of your ship. A very nice detail.

I added a bathroom to my Spindrift. Just in the hallway from the opening.

Thanks Gerry. The Spindrift is also one of my favorite ship designs, however improbable it is. I've seen your take on the ship and like the restroom idea- pretty logical placement ! I appreciate creative modeling in all forms.
