Tantive IV from X-Wing Miniatures game

Pictures of the Tantive IV. Paint job is not too bad, wash is a bit heavy in spots. One wonky engine needs fixing.

Boarding hatch and front landing gear.

Rear landing gear.

Oh wow, nice work! I really love the chipped worn look of the red panels. About how how long/what are the dimensions of her?

Btw: I remember back when she was just the 'blockade runner' Stick out tongue

Thanks, but this is a pre-painted, pre-built game piece for a Star Wars game called X-Wing Miniatures. My plan is to strip it and re-paint it and light all 11 engines! The ship itself is 13 inches long.

That's pre-painted!?! It's not half-bad at all! I guess I'm used the pre-painted gaming figures that generally look pretty horrid.

Looking forward to seeing how you're going to light and re-paint her.

The X-wing pre painted stuff is very nice.  I still repaint most of it so that my models stand out when playing. but the Ootb stuff is good

Yes, I was actually impressed with the level of detail paint on it. The colored panels are nice and crisp. The "chipping" is not so good though. It's a good "5 footer" paint job, looks good at five feet! My goal is to make it look just a bit better!

So what's up with the Tantive IV? Taking a break from the Falcon whilst waiting for warmer painting weather I decided to break this down. The engines have been removed and opened up for lighting. Engines will be yellow. The red is just for a lighting test. I opened one nozzle and decided I wasn't doing that again, it took nearly 2 hours to do one!. I am having replacements cast in clear resin instead.

The hull has been split which was a bit scary. Not for the faint hearted! Cockpit window also opened for a scratched cockpit to go behind. What a freakin mess!!

Wow, you did strip her down! Looks like some thick black paint is going to be needed for those engines unless they're overloading them for a little extra speed while running from the Star Destroyer!

BTW: One of the guys in our model club is doing something simular with a resin 'Serenity' from a Yatze (how do you spell that!?!) game. He's hollowing out the inside to put lights in there, he described it as hollowing out a pumpkin to make a jack-o-lantern...

Yeah, it's going to need a wee bit of light blocking on the engines!

While waiting for my LEDs and clear nozzles to arrive I figured I would start on the bridge. It's just a simple design, not based off the prop or the various artists interpritations. Just something I cobled together in a couple hours. Still need to add some more details to the walls. It's getting there.

Looks good! Since they didn't show the bridge I guess you can pretty much do it however you wish. Yes

Nothing major to show, but I did get in my flickering yellow LEDs for the engines yesterday! Just waiting on my clear nozzels. I'll be installing the bridge tonight hopefully and getting the engines ready to accept the LEDs.
