My local shop is also a Bandai seller, just not SW kits, as the distributers in Japan are banned from selling outside of the country. Any hobby shop in the US that has Bandai SW kits got them from a third party. But, still cool that a brick and morter has them to sell.

Must be a good hobby shop. The owner probably bought them himslef and then put them in his shop to sell.

Good as far as getting stuff no one else can get. I'm not really sure how others got theirs, but my local shop is a licensed dealer. They sell the Revell, and Bandai stuff - not too many old models to buy, except for the ones that are built then brought in by customers who sell them on consignment. Mostly RC planes, and cars. I plan to offer the X-wing kits that I've mastered for sale through them at a discounted rate for them to buy from me, and resell to the public.

Had some on the shelf at a local shop that had been bought by a customer when it was still easily possible, then they had decided they didn't want them and they got traded in for other stuff.

Without a doubt - ALL the kits from Bandai are original moulds, and designs. I'm not a fan of Bandai's Star Wars stuff, but it IS beyond all shadow of a doubt their own orignal designed moulds, and pieces. You can get these all day long now - even my local model/hobby shop has them in stock.

Yes, the Bandai kits are their own new tools, nothing shared. More accurate shapes, finer and crsiper details, and for the most part cheaper, if you shop around.

Brand spanking original new tools.  They are supposedly more accurate and better detailed than the Fine Molds kits.  I had read that they employ digital scanning of the props for better proportional accuracy.  Their figures in the vehicle kits are much more cleanly molded than FM's.  Buy with confidence, if you can source them!

I have it that the Masters Series Revell SW kits are repops of Finemolds kits. Does anyone know if the new Bandai kits are originals or repops?
