Sorry 1943Mike, I must be developing a reading disability in my old age; I read 1/96 USS Constitution. The Conni decals are available because it is in production at the moment!

For the CS you will need someone with an extra set; but more than likely you will have to make your own. I have a mid-seventies CS that is next up, and the decals do not seem to be usable; so I plan on making my own unless Revell puts the kit back into production before I need them; which is very likely as I am on about a three year production schedule.

Hopefully someone on the forum will be able to meet your need!

I've got a set that's in near perfect condition that I got in a load of parts on ebay late last year.

They're yours if you want them, no charge.  I don't have a 1/96 Cutty Sark to use them on anyway.

Let me know your mailing address and I'll try to get them in the mail to you Friday or so.

The decals are in great condition but I'll caution you about them - they are from a 1969 boxing of the Cutty Sark.  I don't know how well they will work.

I know some of my old Revell aircraft decals (1/32 P-51B) shredded when I tried to use them.

Hopefully these ship decals are better.

I certainly am adhering to your advice! I will scan the decals and I may buy some decal paper just to experiment making my own from the scans.

This is a most satisfying forum where knowledge and generousity combine to make interaction with it a true pleasure.

If I  remember right, the Cutty Sark has a black hull, right?  I assume then that the name would be in a white font.  It is very hard to make your own white decals.  However, if you can find them in a close-enough font, Archer makes very nice dry transfer lettering.  So you can at least do the name and other lettering.  The dry transfer lettering, while a bit more work, since you need to apply each letter seperately, look even better than decals when done.  Archer has a fair selection of fonts, and a wide range of letter sizes.

I have done that, and it works quite well.  My Sam Laud great lakes ship has decals from white paper.  Ordinarily matching the background color is a real problem, but black is probably the easiest color that there is to match :-)  Give it a try- works well.  The dry transfers are for someone who doesn't want to try inkjet decals.
