Tamiya 1-350 KGMS Bismarck
Posted by surfsup on Friday, November 23, 2018 5:12 PM

This will be next build. One of my favourite Ships and surprisingly never built her in 350 Scale. Nice Kit but not big on detail so some updetail parts to add. Will start her shortly.....Cheers Mark

Looks like you've got your own little hobby shop, all ready to go!

Should be interesting to watch.

The old Tamiya Bismarck is a reliable old gal. Like you said not much in the way of detail but with all that AM you have, it should make into a nice replica. I'm sure there are some inaccuracies I'm not aware of but I rather like that old kit as well as the rest of their 1/350 line. Should be fun.

The first stage of the Build was to sand off the Hull seam Lines. Not a fun job but had to be done.....Cheers mark

I'm watching this since I will be building mine this winter.

I bought some German Navy life rafts that I plan to add to mine. The tread on them is on here somewhere.

I also have the decals and swastikas from Custome Hobby Decals.

I just went back and saw you have the life rafts.

Yeah the only way I could start this Build was to buy the Add Ons when I could as it was just to costly to buy everything in one go. As for the Build the Prop Shaft Housings have now been fitted. They are an atrocious fit. Lots of Putty for them and lots of sanding to come.....Cheers mark

I don't recall fit issues when I built mine around 20 years ago, but then again, I'm not sure I would have noticed such issues back then. Huh?

Looking at the pix, is it possible the housings, shafts, and shaft supports are reversed or "handed"?

I am looking firward to the build as I for some odd reason like battleships. GREAT work on cleaning up the putty lines, if mine were half as good on my aircraft... Keep up the pix PLEASE.

probably because they are awesome.

I thought the same thing looking at the shafts. Even if the parts are where they are meant to be, it might improve things to switch left- right.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Never got to serve on a battleship, yessir G they are AWESOME. I hope the OP doesn't take my observation the wrong way. I have never interacted with him... Bismark was a remarkable ship with a rich history for her short time at sea. This gentleman looks like he has the fixens and skills to do it proud.

I have the Tamiya Missouri in my stash, Gulf One refit, still working on my fiddly bit PE experience.

Mark,

It’s great to see you back and posting again bud! Nice subject, so if you don’t mind, I’ll just pull up a seat. I am interested in seeing how you like the Veteran Flak guns. I’m queuing up the Trumpeter 1/350 Graf Spee and was thinking about picking them up.

Have started working on the Resin Accessories. Here are the differences between Veteran Models 4.1 Inch Mounts and Kit ones. I did not realize that she had different Mounts for and aft for her A/A Mounts. Have built all 4 replacement forward Mounts. More to come soon.....Cheers mark

Some nice progress, those guns do look nice. I didn't get those ones for mine as the Lion Roar set has barrels and some PE to do them up nicely. But its good to see what their stuff looks like.

If you want to display all 7 you will need 2 Boxes as there are only 6 in a box. If you wish to use the Covers on the 2 on the Stack then only use 1 Box.....Cheers mark

Ye, thats where i got the items i already have from, i got them from his e-bay site. There is a company in the UK that has the vetren stuff but don't always have it in stock and it wasn't much more to get them from BMA.

I have the Revell Bismarck kit and a rather large Lion Roar PE set. I need to go through the both of them and get an idea of what the lights and some other parts will look like and if its worth getting the vetrenparts. having paid about £100 for the PE i don't really want to be buying resin if i don't need it, thats why i only got the smaller AA guns.

I did have great service from BMA, i think even with the postage it was not much more than i would have got them for in the UK and i have ordered from them since, i will deffinetly use them again.
