Trumpeter 1/350 Bismarck; New Tool for 2020
Posted by BBorBust on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 6:16 AM

Has anyone else seen that Trumpeter released a new tool for the 1/350 Bismarck in 2020? I just discovered it and am very interested in making it my next model for the shelf. I almost bought the Tamiya one, but after some research it seems there is A LOT of lack of detail, especially on the superstructure.

Has anyone gotten their hands on this new tool from Trumpeter? If so how does it stack up against the Revell Germany one? From the info and pics I have seen (unassembled) it seems to have a lot detail and includes things like radar and railings PE with it.

I just looked at this at Scalehobbyist and it looks terrific. Thanks for the tip. I found a short video link at scalemates but nothing else by way of a preview

They've already brought out 1/200 and 1/700 so I would assume it compares.

There are a number of reviews online. It looks very nice.

No matter how detail it will seem to be, Pontos will come out with an upgrade that will cost twice as much as the kit...LOL.

Perhaps I'm not searching correctly but I can' find any reviews of the new 1/350 kit as GMorrison stated. Could you post a link to them? I'm really curious because I just ordered the kit.

Thanks

jeffpez
but I can' find any reviews

On you tube check out Andy's Model Headquarters.

My real question is what trumpy will call the colors out as.  Brown for the hull, green for the deck camo stripes of lavenerd and violet . . .

I'd found the Andy's review but no more. Thanks for the search tip. I'll keep looking.

I stopped looking at Trumpeter's color call outs a long time ago but thanks for the chuckle. I'll have the kit next week so now I'll be looking at the painting chart.

I am very interested in this model. May be ordering it in the next few weeks and adding it to the GB. If I do order it I will be sure to share my WIP and thoughts on it.

Mine arrived today and it's stunning. Loads of detail and very well molded. There's a significant amount of PE included but one of the enclosed notices from Trumpeter shows they have their own detail up set with lots of PE, wooden decks, metal and resin parts. The sheet says they want $130 for the set but I saw it on Ebay for $55.

This kit looks like a home run

Probably not because I won't be starting it any time soon and have no idea how to post pictures. When I saw it was available I made an impulse buy and grabbed it, just like I always do.

have no idea how to post pictures

You need to place them on a 3rd party site.  Imigur or the like.

You click on the image you want, select Copy Image Location, then insert that in the top line the insert image icon (looks like a mountain, 5th from the left)--comme ca:

That image I specified a 400 (pixel) width in the box before pressing enter.

All of the above is using a desktop--using mobile devices is different, and you'd need input from some one skilled in that activity.

Is the Trumpeter kit any real improvement over the Revell kit of the Bismarck?  I already have the Revell kit, which has a lot of detail.

I'm sure it has three times as many parts.

I have the Revell kit and plan on buying the Pontos detail set, which is a kit in itself.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Just purchased this kit to add to my stash of models to build. Sprue Bro's had a good deal. Ended up being cheaper than scale hobbyist with the sale.

Cant wait to get my hands on this thing!
