This site, with all of 8 or 9 unique visitors, and a whopping 4 comments over tha last week, still collapses into 404 and 504 errors with little notice.
This has been going on since at least March, and half a year is far too long to sustain forum traffic.
I certainly hope Tankerbuilder is ok, did not see him over at MSC, where 80% of FSM vanished off to.
Naval trivia: Those foredeck reels will be half natural fiber line, and half wire rope (one typer per reel). Being exposed on the main deck, it was not uncommon to have a canvas cover laced over the reel, so as to not have to rinse the salt out before use.
There are all manner of needs for line while setting the Sea and Anchor Detail. There are buoy lines need rigging to the anchor, and you need natural fiber lines for lifelines for the crew scrambling about the anchors and ground tackle, often over the side. Those uses are temporary, so, you return the used line to its reel afterwards, to save having fishing up stores from the peak tank or similar Bo's'n's Stores spaces.
