Do they make this kit?
Posted by lizardqing on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 9:05 PM
I have a friend that served on the USS Nassau, think thats how it is spelled. He was wanting me to find out if there is a kit for his ship or one that could be built to represent it. He said he saw one built some where. I have no idea since the last ship I built was the Enterprise when I was about 10. Any help is appreciated.

There's no model of the Nassau, I scratchbuilt one a few years ago, it's up in the attic in pieces after an accident involving stairs and gravity. I guess I should try to salvage it...

So i guess they don't even make that type of ship in kit form either. This is really strating to stink, everytime a vetern wants me to make a replica of what they served with , there's no kit.

USS Nassau (LHA-4) is a Tarawa class LHA. Use the Dragon/DML 1/700 scale USS Tarawa (LHA-1) or USS Saipan (LHA-2) kit. Sorry no known kit available in 1/350.

Cool thats more promising. Seeing how about the only thing I know about ships is that hey are supposed to float, those variations would be pretty close? Scale should not be a problem, allthough I'm not to sure how big even a 1/700 would be. Thanks I'll check with him and see if that would be close enough for what he is loooking for.

The LHA's are about the same size as the WW2 Essex class carriers.

So fiqure about 15 inches for the ship.

Chris:
You might want to troll over to modelwarships.com; there are a lot of knowledgable people there who can give you the differences between your kit and 'Nassau'; you can probably customize your kit into LHA-4.
