The best way to glue together Trumpeter 1/350 aircraft, the clear ones

I've put together a bunch of these things. Seagulls for CA-38 USS San Francisco, Harriers for the Tarawa LHA-1 (1/700), so on.

The ones cast in clear plastic. Nice little models.

Runny solvent glue seems to not have enough bonding surface, and the clear styrene isn't really soft enough to melt. CA, well it holds but any touch and it snaps free.

I'm going to put together little Wildcats from VF-2 at Coral Sea.

F4F-3's but the only ones available to build are F4F-4's with the STO folding wing.

Which means that each little kitty has, on each side;

a fuselage half, a stub wing, and an outer wing.

The fear is that all of these little bug parts will depart.

Whats the best glue you've found? CA vs. clear styrene I can deal with.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I can't answer your question but I do understand the desire to find the right adhesive for these little aircraft.

I actually built 6 aircraft for my San Francisco of which I thought 4 were good enough to use. Finally I thought three would be fine - two on catapults and one in front of the hangar - but, by inadvertently knocking a couple of the little guys around on my hobby bench, I managed to destroy both of them. I was left with the two I've shown that I attached to the model even though they were not the best ones.

You are right in that CA on these little 1/350 clear plastic planes just doesn't seem to have enough bonding strength. I'd love to hear from others as well regarding their choice of adhesive in these circumstances. I used Gators Grip adhesive on the first couple I tried to put together but that was even less strong.

Looking forward to replies to your post with great interest.

I wonder what you difficulty is ? I have had no problem with Tamiya's green label glue . I also use theLazer-Light glue as well .   T.B.

I used the Tamiya glue for this one (it's AFV Club, but all clear, just the same)

That was just for the wing/fuselage joint...I used CA for all the rest.

TB,

I've just ordered 3 bottles of Tamiya extra thin cement. The adventure continues Smile.

If you and Fermis have used it with success then that's cetainly recommendation enough for me.

GM,

Have you tried the Tamiya cement? Just curious.

Off topic; Fermis, that's one mighty fine looking little aircraft you've built!

the tamiya extra thin is really good cement  mike , there's a u-tube modeler , andy's hobby headquarter's , use it 90% of the time , I learn't a lot from him , he basiclly does tank's , but the principle is the same .

I have been using tamiya's limonene cement , same as extra thin but it smells of oranges
